Found this cigarette case awhile back. I've had someone tell me it looks like it but wanted to ask you guys.

Looks like silver but I think it would be marked as such....if not silver it may be nickel plate

I'd search Tnet as someone has probably posted a way to test for silver.

almost looks like pewter, but at the least Sterling silver..... nice piece

Art deco design with the lines.
Clean it up a bit in this area.
Looks like a shield mark.
Left side of case.
Lower right-hand portion.
Try some baking soda and a bit of water.

If it is silver it will clean up nicely, not so if nickel

Found this cigarette case awhile back. I've had someone tell me it looks like it but wanted to ask you guys.

An old silver test I use just for basic ID is the finger rub... Plating will give a good indication like this too..
But if you rub it with your finger and it leaves a BLACK mark its got at least plated silver, its my basic go to test for things I find at yard sales and such... Like I said, it won't tell you if its sterling but outside is silver if you get a black mark on rubbing it..
