I found this in a house that was being torn down and it caught my eye. I have no idea what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could be wrong but it looks like a trinket box. There should be a lid that sets on top.

I think that's where u set Ur cigarette down, so the butt isn't rolling around collecting germs n stuff cuz you know that could make you sick

That's the ashtray portion. Cigarettes would be stored in the top box.

No problem! Thanks to nhbenz as well since he was also right on the money.

Side note: My grandma used to call it "grandpas special candy dish". As a kid I always wondered why there was never any good candy in it. The cigarettes tasted terrible.
