Somewhat off topic, but seeing I spend most of my time here...........

Hurricane Dorian has it's sights set on Florida.

The projection has it making a turn after going over Central Florida, and aiming for the Panhandle, coming ashore as a Cat 4 storm between Mobile, Alabama and Tallahassee Florida on Thursday. That means we're in the middle of the strike zone here in Panama City.

Still recovering from Hurricane Michael, which was reclassified as a Cat 5 officially, we are between 1/3 and 1/2 done with repairs, some neighbors houses are still stripped to the studs.

If Dorian hits us as a 4 or greater it will devastate this area for sure. Michael came close to knocking us off the map, Dorian can very well finish what Michael started.

So by Tuesday depending on whether Dorian's track will affect us or not, my priorities will be buttoning up the house the best we can, and storing yard furniture etc in the shed again. Then hunkering down and waiting it out, and praying our repairs weren't for naught.

Told the wife, if we get more damage, we'll sell it as is, as we only owe 3 1/2 payments (Will be paid off on Dec 1st) and move somewhere were these dang Hurricanes can't reach us........

ETA: CINC Household has informed me depending on the track and category, we'll button up everything, lock her up, and run for the border towards Alabama.

Good luck to all but remember how dangerous stress is as well. Current track shows a different story which I hope works out for all...

I don't know whether you all get the same coverage as here or not. Tracking shows the latest educated guess going up the coast. I'd be watching the NC outer banks...I hope it keeps swinging east and misses us all...prayers coming!

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best - which is your plan. Will pray for you and yours.

I'm praying for Iceland, but Greenland is also a great place for it to visit.

I'm wishing for it to stray out into the Atlantic and die out.......One advantage we have in the Central Florida Pandhandle is we can head East, West or North. So we have three escape routes. When you're down in South Florida you go North and get chased by the storms you're running from!

We here in the Florida Panhandle seem to have dodged a bullet this time. At least if it stays on its current track. My son and his wife and kids, on the other hand, who are with his inlaws in Beaufort SC, are under mandatory evacuation orders effective 1200 tomorrow. They'll be taking all the major East bound thoroughfares and making them West bound only to expedite traffic.

ffuries, God's Speed to you and your family and to all that are in the path of this storm. Prayers said that lives and property will be spared. First and foremost, lives. Be safe and take care of yourselves.

185 MPH sustained winds with gusts to 225. 145 miles from the Florida coast, and closing. It doesn't actually have to make landfall there to rip Florida real good. I hate storms. I don't think I'd ever be able to live within 30 miles of the ocean.

True the Florida Peninsula is in for one major pounding. On the current track parts of the Florida Panhandle will get tropical storm strength weather. I believe we are far enough West that we'll be spared all together, for which I'm grateful for. We are still having repairs from Michael done on the house. We are between 1/3 and 1/2 way done with repairs, don't think I could handle having to start them again.

May those who are in harm's way be safe, property can be replaced or rebuilt, lives on the other hand cannot. Heed warnings and orders from local government and leaders. Your lives are worth more than anything you own, trust me I know. I let $30,000.00 in guns sit for two weeks before I did anything with them (All of them survived in great shape), because my family, their well being and the welfare of my neighbors were more important to me.

My wife aka CINC Household and our kids were shocked that I didn't immediately check on my babies (guns). After the two weeks my wife told me you need to check the guns. I had coated them in transmission fluid prior to the storm, and it kept 99.99% of the rust at bay.

Before dawn the rip tides will be awful. The storm is eating the Bahamas.
