I found a Rolex a few days ago. Its been sat here as I'm not sure what to do with it or can tell if real or not. It has a 18k engraved on the back and there is a hidden clasp. I have uploaded some photos. Can anyone help at all? 6hMfzkf.jpgcvk1y8k.jpgdeyoCPD.jpggekSCwz.jpgL0w9VWc.jpgUEJ7WvV.jpgURaeybD.jpg

be nice now, it is not illegal to sell it as a replica if you state it is a replica, only if you tried to pass it off as real! And I still stand by my original comment of seeing gemed movements so probably worth a couple hundred

That is crazy that a good fake can still go for that. My top of the line watch is a genuine Movado that apparently didn't cost much more than a dang fake and I'm sure I'll never upgrade. Also I too thought that if a fake was made to exactly mimic the real deal then it was illegal but I could very well be wrong. HH everyone!

Since when is it not illegal to sell an illegal item, and a fake watch with a Rolex logo is totally infringing on Rolex Copywrited material. What is legal is selling a homage, a watch that looks identical but does not have the same brand name. Of course in the case of someone copying a Rolex, whether they do it in a legal way or not, only the outside will look the same and the guts will be very difference because Rolex uses their own in-house movement. That's why a Rolex will last forever if taken care of, but a fake you can't be real sure about. I guess any auto can be repaired, even a fake, but I sure wouldn't trust the water resistance.

Real, not real... it's a cool find. If you like it, wear it and it will be a nice conversation starter. The moment you saw it and felt that excitement... that is the real treasure in this hobby.

You know finding it is sort of a pass.

....Rolex.

Is it real?

i used to buy fakes for $10. in NYC just after you get off the staten island ferry, lol. ive dug a few myself also. most of them have a basic timex movement and plastic parts (dead givaway) , the magnifyer, will actually magnify on a genuine.

I actually own this box in my attic. Its of everything that I found when a kid up through to now. It kinda reminds me of how happy I felt when I found it hence why I never thought about doing anything other with it than keeping it.
It has coins, a few watches I think one is a rotary, Ornaments, Bits of pottery. (When I was younger I thought it was treasure) I have these badges in it that I kept when my granddad died. He was in the war.
Sounds silly but when I look at my box of finds I felt the same way as I do when I found the rolex. Even if its worth nothing. Its just that bit of excitement when I found it ha.

This rolex will most likely go into that box real or not. Good things come to those who wait and I'm sure I'll need those things when times get bad but I'm not at that point yet. Ill just keep looking in my box when I'm feeling down as it'll make me excited till I close the lid :)

Great find!
The watch seems to be a real treasure, Rolex or Fake, It just may be destined to belong to someone who appreciates it. It looks like you do!!

You have a great attitude about treasure hunting Pebbles while some people (like myself) might get caught up about what kind of quality is inside of a wristwatch it is really the quality of what is inside the person wearing it that is what really counts in life.

Thank you for reminding me of that with your post, your find is something special enjoy it and thank you for reminding me that treasure cannot always be measured in dollars and cents there are plenty of people with expensive watches that don't have the richness of character you do.

I have no doubt your next big find will more than enough to buy bunny a new cage.

God Bless and Happy Hunting.

test saphire crystal face... use teardrop regular water water will retain its bubble on real crystal it will not on glass

Also the bracelet wwill have screws where links can be taken out and not pins you will be able to see the flat head screws not phillips I own 2 rolex watches ( work gives them for del 1mill in furniture)

sorry quick post only gives so many characters, The watch should have died by now if your not wearing it... take it and set it in a drawer for 18hrs see if it dies ( it should) and then pick it up and shake it should start up again if this does not happen not genuine. Rolex is the biggest piece of junk dont evern wear mine ( wear my Raymond Weil way more)

Pebbles i hope it turns out real for you i know i was off the wall when i found out mine was real good luck

Hey, where are you? In Sedona, Cottonwood, possibly Jerome???? I lived in Jerome from 1980-1995, great place before the state paved the road and 89A was open ALL YEAR ROUND! Wanna be friends? I'm new to all of this and now live in SC (outside of Camden) & FL (treasure coast). Want to find some civil war stuff and who the hell knows what I might find in FL! BTW, I love the way you spelled Prescott, just the way the locals pronounce it! Hope I hear from you. Paisley

Paisley PS: I ran the Spirit Room all through the 80's, until the owners closed the bar & hotel in late '86. I used to get the best music and the town had GREAT musicians too! Really miss the west & may move back there one of these days...out by Sycamore Canyon or somewhere secluded anyway!
