Does anyone recall seeing a tabletop gold separator called the Hydrostatic Vertical Table? It was manufactured by Action Mining Services in the late 1980's but discontinued, I think, in the early 1990's, following the debut of their series of Micron Mill Wave Tables.

This separator was a variation on the elutriation tower theme but, instead of a clear round column of water, it employed a clear flat thin panel of upward moving water.

I actually had a videotape of this unit in action but lost it in a housefire in 1991. I would be interested in any info that could be found on this separator.

Regards
Bob

Reviving old thread :laughing9:

John , that sayin much eh?! I recently saw an add for Popular Mining Magazine on ebay going like 150$ for the whole package.

It is funny is see old threads come back to life. I forgot what I posted 4 years ago. Action Mining offers the complete set in book format(without the ads for $150.
Gee I remember I got two free issues after I submitted an article for publication. Popular Mining was a combination of the Good, the bad and the Ugly and ceased operations in what 1996?. Lots of great articles by good do it yourselfers . Also a lot of terrible articles by do it yourselfers. Popular Mining would take any article by anyone (Gee they took mine)LOL
Occasionally you would see some self promotion by folks who submitted articles and were trying to sell stuff. I remember one guy submitted an article on a milling machine and offered plans for a reasonable sum. No one received any plans as it he did all of his work in a jail cell. LOL

Ah the good old days.LOL

It claims to capture gold down to 5000 mesh which is is a pretty tall order. If true it probably requires careful classification, constant monitoring and adjustment and a very slow feed rate.
The wave table most likely surpasses this device in efficiency and production otherwise it would not have faded into obscurity. With all that poo poo BS being said I am anxious to see if you can find out more info on it.

Action(still in biz) was reprinting the mags as demands rise. I have quite a few left but must finish a few projects for others first, then I'll dig into that subject. John

Yeb, George those ole days will never stop amazes me. LOL
Action Mining used to sell wave tables also. Guess they were pricey as well. Glad you came up with your own set of plans , and unlike the guy you mentioned before you deserve credit for your hard work.

Thanks George :headbang:
