Ok I'm totally stumped on this but also very intrigued. Found deep at an old dump site. Its a little bigger then a half dollar and It's not very heavy. It rang up in the 70-80s on the AT pro. That's all the info I have at the moment. Any guesses or feedback of any kind is appreciated. Thanks in advance. I just kept playing with the searches and poking around.

Given that the war ended soon after he registered for the draft,

I'm guessing he never saw action. Maybe that's why there are no Army records for him.

Still cool to find and ID his dog tag, though.

Is 158 Moyallen St anywhere near you?

I think so maybe I will try to look them up or just go knock on the door.

As 'Mack Digger' mentioned above, this soldier may be buried in the Phili National Cemetary. One way to verify (or not) is to contact the cemetery (215-504-5610) and reference Howard Oliver who is buried in Section G, Site 1344 as possibly being the person you seek. Mention his serial number and request their assistance in returning the tag to the next of kin--if that is your intent. Perhaps they have more extensive background data on this man--including his service number. Of course matching the serial number with the cemetery's records would be a giant step towards returning the tag.

I highlighted
furniture finisher because that vocation is listed as his on his enlistment registration.
Another way to see if this soldier is your soldier is to contact the V.F.W. post as noted above (or their successor post) and attempt to tie your service tag number to records the V.F. W. may have.
