How to prevent massacre incidents?

It might not "Cure" the problem but it may slow down the carnage. No guns = Less motivation to use one against innocent people.

I should have said "less opportunity" instead of less motivation...forgive me.

Unfortunately life in prison or even the death penalty is not much of a deterrent for millions of criminals. Do you think extreme, long and drawn out, excruciating torture, literally a living hell, would put a ginormous dent in criminal motivation? All we have to do now is think of a cool acronym for HELL and get the program rolling.

No guns= less motivation???? Really?? You are wrong on so many levels with that statement. First of all eliminating all the guns is unobtainable...even if you could people will still make them so right there your statement is just fairy tail foolishness. Second of all how is a gun motivation? You think everyone is so shallow to say, hey there is a gun so I am going to go shoot someone? It's thought processes like this from people like you that try to excuse people to throw away all their personal responsibility. Therefore I must thank you for helping to dumb down America...:BangHead:

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." That is my license to own firearms for my and my love ones protection and I have a license to carry concealed.....:icon_thumright:

Facts dont support your statement..... Criminals will always have guns, gun control only stops law abiding citizens from legally owning guns..... Florida leads the nation in conceal carry permits and our crime rate has dropped faster than the national average since conceal law passed...

"Firearm-related violent crimes in Florida have dropped by one-third in just four years, 2007 to 2011, while concealed carry permits jumped by 90 percent in that period. Further, violent crime of any kind dropped almost as much, 26 percent.

When Florida passed the first “shall-issue” law requiring authorities to issue concealed weapons permits to qualified citizens upon request in 1987, critics warned that the Sunshine State would soon become the “Gunshine” State, with predictions of differences being settled by gun fights in the streets, and crime soaring. The exact opposite happened. As Guncite.com noted, “homicide rates dropped faster than the national average [and] through 1997, only one permit holder out of over the 350,000 permits issued, was convicted of homicide.”

That was then. This is now. Lott provided an update on right-to-carry laws for the Maryland Law Review last October in which he noted that there are now more than 912,000 permit holders in Florida, many of whom have had their permits for years. Across the country, as some 40 other states have joined Florida in its decision to allow “shall-issue” permits to its citizens, the number of permit holders has reached nearly eight million, and is still climbing. And Lott is getting support for his once-controversial view by recent studies showing similar declines in violent crime."

Florida Update: Concealed Carry Permits Up, Violent Crime Down

I'm curious;
I don't know all of the particulars;

What has the government done; I'm talking about laws that were actually passed; that makes some of you believe that they are after your guns?

There may be some restrictions like background checks but that does not prevent law abiding citizens from owning guns. Our other rights; i.e. 1st Amendment is not without some restriction. You cannot go into a crowded theater and yell "Fire" and not be prosecuted. I see no credible threat indicating that the government is going to break down your door and forcibly take your guns. Maybe I don't know about it; please explain.

Attempting to ban magazines past a certain number of bullets, attempting to ban firearms cuttently legal, wanting extensive background checks, wanting to register guns, 1994's Assault Weapons Ban... Just this year obama and his crew attempted to pass universal background checks for gun sales, reinstate and strengthing of the assault weapon ban, and limiting ammo magazines to 10 round capacity... We will fight these attacks on our gun rights before they become law.........

How about laws forcing doctor to ask you if you have guns in you house when it has NOTHING to do with why I am there.

Is it illegal to lie to a doctor & say no ?

Especially considering it has nothing to do with your illness
unless your there for shooting your eye out :icon_scratch:

Where is the clearing house for these talking points? We hear them every time a new member comes in and starts debating the issue. Can you look a little further down the page of points so that we may see new angles? Or you could look at the last few thousand posts?

Complete gun confiscation during Katrina. To the point that officers beat a 86 year old woman within a inch of her life for refusing to give them her legally owned firearm. Many of the people who had their legal firearms taken for no reason were the mugged and robed at gun point when criminals broke into their homes.
