My grandma found this bowl in her house that was built circa 1905 1910ish. in turkey the country. Is it that old it is rusty. It does stick to the magnet. What type of metal is it I guess steel? She told me it was handmade. is that true? There's no makers mark. Is it a 100 years old the same age as the house how old? 20210219_161511.jpg20210219_161506.jpg20210219_161534.jpg20210219_161521.jpg

The age of the house is irrelevant. I believe the bowl is much newer. A magnet will stick to poor quality stainless steel and therefore may rust a bit IMO.

Restaurants use these in kitchens if I remember right. They are very modern, maybe even 1980's.

To add to some of your findings.
400 series of St/S will in fact stick to a magnet.
But also stainless screws that are 304 because of the way they're produced.
Stainless that has been scratched will rust many times-as stainless is the following.

If I can remember correctly I dealt with the common 304/316 (L) series the main/common stainless. Dealing with other alloys heat treating then it went in for analysis testing.
