I always do to help my best friend ATPro and me.

Never. No reason too. My machines pinpoint good enough. In the dry sand I can just sift my scoop to get the goodies and in the wet I dump it out and flatten the part thats beeping with my foot. Both take a few seconds and I dont even need to bend down at all.

land -all the time
beach/water -never

+1 on this, In my five years of beach detecting, not once have I ever used or have needed a pinpointer. I see people using pinpointers on detecting videos at the beach and always wonder why??:dontknow:

Beach and water never, land yes. I just kick the sand to the side and listen for the loudest sound. Works like a charm.

Chug Here I have A Garett Carrot, Ill poke it Anywhere That red says I Cant LOL Bad Chug Bad

Never at the beach , always on land ,enjoy the beach and good luck and good hunting

why would you need a pin pointer at the beach in or out of the water ?? You have a $1000 metal detector a $50 to $300 scoop , why a pin pointer ?

No need to at the beach and carrying a separate pp is just something extra to keep track of......

I personally never md without it.
Part of my belt no matter.
I consider it a "tool of the trade" so to speak...
May not use it often...
but when I need one... even if infrequent...
I have one.

In 10 years never needed one at beach so I can live with out one...

How much time has been wasted searching for that "elusive" hit.

99.9 % of targets I am dead on it...
But occasionally there is the "ghost" hit.

I have better things to do than to bend and chase the post earing as I scoop and scoop... back and forth etc.

Like...
Digging the next target. :P

Needed mine today this guy is little kept falling out of the Damn scoop Red is working on the post Now will post the 14k find later HH Chug

if you are detecting close / between large rocks, rock hopping a pin pointer comes in handy.

Where there are a lot of shallow targets (close to each other) , you can clear them more rapidly by proning out and sweeping the area with a pin pointer that has the capability to detect off the side.

For tiny/thin targets which fall through the holes of your scoop.

If you have to dig near roots of dead trees on the beach.

Holes in coral, narrow crevices in rocks.

Usually you do not need a pinpointer, extra weight to carry, more to loose but
it really depends on where you are hunting, your hunting technique, and what you have to do to get at the treasure.

Going to the beach tomorrow for first time and was curious how many of you use a pin pointer at the beach ?
Thank you for any response.

There is a Poll up top for fun if u have the time.

Ditto, if you have a scoop you don't need a pp

Heh... ?

Been using a barrage of various scoops for eons...
From high ends to customs...
Not one...
Ever...
Gets everything... and is a smooth runner.
There are ALWAYS elusive targets.

On perms... I wouldn't dream of not carrying a pin pointer.

I always have my carrot with me, but I don't always use it. I only use it when I'm doing the "It's in the hole, now in the scoop, not in the scoop, not in the hole, next to the hole, in the scoop" routine. It's usually foil on the beach, but I don't give up easy. I'm still new at this, so I'm digging and identifying everything I can, learning more every time I dig.
