I use a Pinpointer in the dry sand. I don't need it often, but when I do it really helps. I don't really care if anyone else does or not, or if this makes me look like less of a MDer.

Never have felt the need in the sand or out in the water, most beaches I can accurately pinpoint and dig down half a foot with 1 scoop.

Plus I usually am in speedos at the beach, wouldn't be a practical way to even carry one.

I never use a pinpointer - period. Old school here, can't see any need for it myself.

Easy... just keep it inside the front of your speedos... :P

I always carry my waterproof pin pointer when I hunt the beach or water. I rarely need it, but, when you have a target constantly fall through the scoop, it's invaluable. I've found some nice diamond earrings and gold chains out in the surf that way. On land, you can always go old school by waving handfuls of sand over your coil, but, out in the surf is a different story.

Believe me, everyone would rather see me with a pin pointer on my hip than me in speedos! :laughing7:

I put a screen mess in the bottom 1/4 of my scoop and have found numerous stud earrings because of it, if I am missing stuff it is too small for me to even care about.

Do you search your scoop every time ?
See...
I work certain areas... with lots of shells... I have no time to search through scoops of shells...
I throw my scoops over to side.
Scoop spreads...
And when I do get a ghost in the scoop I don't want
Way too many shells etc for that for me.

No time for that for me.

And yes... I fill EVERY hole quickly and thoroughly with the side of my foot.

MAybe a vid is in order...

Same here. Some areas have tons of shells or rocks. A pin pointer helps locate the target without having to pick through all that with your fingers.....especially at night.
