How long will the double standard continue?

Yes, of course I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights! You know that. Again, no double standard as I am under the impression she waived her right to the fifth when she first testified by making a statement.

Be happy that someone is using their constitutional rights. If you deny her the fifth you deny yourself the second. Believe me I hate when trailer trash red white power rednecks hold klan rallies etc but I realize it is their constitutional right. And as disgusting as it is if you take away their rights than it hurts us all.

Amendment 5, of the Bill of Rights:

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or navel forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of war,or public danger;nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardyof life or limb;nor shall be compelled in any criminalcase to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of live, liberty, or property, without due processof law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Read an decide the propriety for yourself. The Bill of Rights exists for all of our protection, but can be misused, and abused by those who don't understand it.
I will protect these rights to the end, but really don't like the constant attempts to change the interpretation to suit an individuals needs in a case of national, or public importance. These IRS officials are not under indictment for any crimes,(yet), and are employees of the taxpayers of this country, they owe us , their employers, an explanation of their actions and thought processes. Yes, I defend their rights under the Constitution, but condemn them for the constant misuse of their given rights.

Picker, I agree sometimes you have to uphold someones constitutional rights...even when it's disgusting. That was my exact point when we were talking about American citizens being taken out by drones on American soil.

The use of the fifth amendment is backed by hundreds of years of case law and rooms full of rulings. She was totally within her constitutional right to invoke the fifth. Do I like it - no way. Do I respect her right to invoke without question - yes. A right is a right - period. I am shocked all you very pro second folks are even debating this. Aren't you attacking the very thing that many of you say you would "die" to defend??? I guess when all the liberals start carrying guns you will all start complaining about the second and saying it is being misused??

Either support the constitution or don't. These are called rights for a reason - correct??

I think what I have the most trouble with is that the Constitution is being cherry picked for the parts that suit the offenders while ignoring or conveniently changing other parts as in Second Ammendment rights. It is our constitutional right for Lois Lerner to further have her feet held to the fire.

Picker,

I think if you read what I said, I totally defend her right to her rights under the Bor, they are their for everyone. What bothers me is how some use these rights in other than their intended uses. Today their are abuses all across the spectrum of our rights under the law, that does not mean that they should be changed or interpreted to fit individual cases. The Constitution , and it's amendments have been under siege almost since it's publication, but like it or not has always served it's intended purpose.

It's obvious thatyou feel that we pick and chose what we defend, and what we ignore... and I defend you right to make that assumption.

That's right - a right is a right!! Defend them all or throw them all away. No picking and choosing. Enough said.

Picker, do you think she could be invoking the fifth to protect someone else and not herself?

Diesel that was my initial thought too because if I were asking questions the first question I would ask after her carefully worded" I did nothing wrong" would be " did you instruct anyone else.?"

Thanks, great minds think alike! When this all comes to light I have a feeling this is going to be one of the biggest scandals of our lifetimes...

Remember it took 2 years to hang Nixon...... Patience

In evolutionary psychology and in cognitive neuroscience, patience is studied as a decision-making problem, involving the choice of either a small reward in the short term, or a more valuable reward in the long term. When given a choice, all animals, humans included, are inclined to favour short term rewards over long term rewards. This is despite the often greater benefits associated with long term rewards.

Excellant point on the patience point! We all could use some.
