That's a beauty! Minnesota is in the west end of the dispersal region of Lake Superior area mined copper that was hammered into artifacts. Likely age... Approximately 1000- 4000 B.C. .
Do a search for "copper culture artifacts" or "old copper culture" to learn more.
There are fur trade era copper artifacts also but they're only sheet metal thick.
Awesome find!

I was curious what do you guys think it's possibly worth cash wise not that I would sell it. To me it is worth more than any amount of money and should be treasured and in a museum so others can see and enjoy it as well imo....

DANG IF I FOUND THAT JEWEL , I WOULD LOOK LKE CURLEY FROM THE STOOGES AND I WOULD BE GOING AROUND AND AROUND IN THE DIRT. WOULD LOOK LIKE A DUST STORM. THATS AWESOME FIND .

grats at least yours made it to the banner. i posted this one a couple of weeks ago and got nothing. i just had it looked at saturday,at the mississippi valley archaeology center, mvac show, several exhibitors and the main staff members i.d. it as a socketed tang spear point from the middle archaic period and 5-7 thousand years old.copper point.jpgIMG_1276.JPG

Wow. Congratulations, that is amazing!

Good job that looks great either the maker found a great stone or they were a great spear tip maker or both NICE

I hope you have scoured the recovery area well, sometimes a cache of several blades is recovered from a small area. At any rate I would be hitting all detectable ground within a half mile of that find.

Steve

Glad to see this up on the Banner where it belongs! Do you have a nice display box for showcase it in?

Thank you all for your comments and the banner nomination much appreciated. I found this beauty when me and a friend where hiking on his land last fall. I spotted it sticking out of the dirt tangled in the roots of a tree that had recently fell over. The color of it is what caught my eye and at first glance I thought it was a piece of glass until I pulled it out and looked at it closer. I found it in Wabasha County, MN in the Zumbro River Valley 7 miles from Mississppi River. Thanks again God bless and praise Jesus Christ the King of Kings!!]

Again, awesome find. Please consider adding it to this thread in the Native American Artifacts section:

I found this a ways from the point any clues what it is and if it's from the same period. thanks. it seems like baked and hardend clay of some sort..

Take it to Effigy Mounds National Monument at McGregor, Iowa, and ask the director about it. It looks like authentic copper culture.

Checking in from Wisconsin; Great find! Early copper Culture.
Keep hunting! Where there is one piece you will probably find more.

Thats a unique find congrats on it.

Congrats from Olmsted County, MN. Amazing find!! As others noted, it would be interesting what an expert would say as it appears to be a very rare find!

Way to go on the incredible finds. The saw-tooth find in amazing!

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny
