Now $13+ for a 12-pack of “normal” beer, $4/loaf on white bread, etc.Hell I remember the "shock" when the price of a gallon started to go up last century and was approaching $0.50. Damn near DOUBLE from where I started....!!!!
Just North of you here in B.C. we are double that at $6.76 per gallon.. Way to much .....Regular unleaded is about $3.30 a gal here......too damn much!
Yeah buddy, well over $5. The county has an 80% tax on tobacco, plus different towns in the county have their own little tax, so $18 a can here in Frisco. But you're right, 25 cents a can late 60's, no ID required, haha! Now $13+ for a 12-pack of “normal” beer, $4/loaf on white bread, etc.
I started chewing Skoal around 1970: 25 cents per can. I quit several years ago. I don’t know the current price, but well over $5.
Skoals around $7 & change now.Now $13+ for a 12-pack of “normal” beer, $4/loaf on white bread, etc.

Yeah same here on eggs. More for cage free, but being I don't think a chicken really knows it's in a cage I'll just buy the lesser priced eggs.$2.91 in Minerva Ohio Eggs $5.85 a dozen
I lease a farm for my horses. When we drive down the lane to the farm (TWICE A DAY) the people that live at the start of the drive have maybe 30 or so chickens . We almost always have to stop and wait for them to get out of the road.Yeah same here on eggs. That's nuts -- that's nearly 50 cents per egg! I haven't bought eggs in ages (chickens provide plenty), though the cost of feed has certainly gone up.Eggs $5.85 a dozen
Unfortunately, "cage free" doesn't necessarily mean anything. They can be in a giant barn and not be in a cage and carry the "cage free" label even if they never saw a ray of sunshine in their life. So you're right, no sense paying more.Yeah same here on eggs. More for cage free, but being I don't think a chicken really knows it's in a cage I'll just buy the lesser priced eggs.

True free range is the way to go -- where the chickens had sunshine and access to natural diet and exercise. They may not know the difference, but the eggs do. But yeah, expensive at the store.
Here's a couple of photos I took a while back. Grocery store "cage free" egg on the left, one of our home-raised free range eggs on the right. The grocery store egg seems downright anemic by comparison. (And all that runny white in the pan is from the grocery store egg. )
