Hello All,
Not much time to write, but here are some honeymoon finds from KY and LA. BIG thanks to Hill Billy for taking us to a great site. Many buttons were dug, and DiggerGirl got a nice shoe buckle piece. I got a CW Eagle "I" button with the shank. Has a push in the face, but it was so great to see that old Kentucky dirt again, and clean that soil off my finds. I was also very pleased to dig a ramrod channel. Been since I lived in KY that I dug one of those. Here are some photos:
In our LA digging, we managed to recover FOUR tokens! Normally we dig, combined between Shanegalang, DG, and I, ONE plantation token every couple months here. One of the tokens (the T.D. Lalande one I recovered), I believe to be unlisted! She got a pre-1930 tag from a Chevrolet ("Body by FISHER"). I found one online for sale for $40. I got a spur neck and she dug a couple tax tokens, a wildlife and fisheries 1952 Hoop Net tag, barrel tap pieces, and a brass wedding band. Here are the LA finds:
And here are photos of the four tokens. She got a Thos. C. Toups 25c token from ARIEL, LA (ghost town).
She also dug an S. P. Achee, Baker (Houma, LA) good for one loaf of bread:
I got one (unlisted?) T. D. Lalande 25c token from Raceland, LA:
And a beautiful Large Cent-sized Lafreniere Plantation token (75cents) from "Camp Parapet," LA (CSA).
Here's her FISHER car body tag. These square tags are early. The one from online is on the right.
