Hi everyone! I'm a newbie and have some questions.

Me and my husband are very new to this. We recently purchased a miners kit that included our GPAA membership. I have a few questions if anyone has the time to try and answer them. Ok.... when it comes to the GPAA claims, how can I find where these claims are? I've recently learned of something called Chapters, but I'm completely lost and have no idea how this works. We live in Alabama and so far all I know is the counties where claims are but do not know exactly where they are. My kit hasn't arrived yet but I am so anxious to learn all of this I thought that this forum would help. Will the Miner's Guide show the claims? Or do I need to get online for that. I am very experienced with a GPS and have read about having to load longitude and latitude into that to find these places??? I guess if you can or would like to, please just give me some pointers so that I can begin to learn everything I need to know. I really appreciate it!
Thanks:hello:

I'm new to the GPAA as well. I was slightly disappointed at the lack of information for the eastern states. They list a couple of 'pay for' sites, but heck, a cat can find them on Google just walking across the keyboard... I was hoping for more detailed location information for us folks in the east.

Out west, lots of information for that area.

From what I've been able to find out, the best bet is to have permission for private property in some known producing areas.

Hello and welcome. I also had the same questions so I called the GPAA and I was told to look at the 2nd last page of the Pick & Shovel Gazette and e-mail the person that is close to your location or where you are going and they can help with getting you started. Good luck
