Here Is a List of Over 300 Employers Who Have Reportedly Cut Hours to Avoid Obamacare

well, any reason to cut peoples hours seems like a good enough one to me.

I guess that's why the economy has steadily gone downhill for the working class since 1980. All those undeserved benefits, darn paid holidays, sick time and people that think they deserve to be treated like they are someone are the reason.

One quetchion; Why does health care insurance or healthcare have to be tied to employment?

Just more results coming down from worst occupant to ever occupy Whitehouse.

Insurance doesn't have to come from work, you can buy it privately, the one thing it should never be is mandated or ran from federal government.

Is car insurance mandated or ran by feds, no.

no, auto insurance is not mandated by the Feds. It's mandated by the state governments, along with home owners insurance and flood insurance where needed.

This cutting of employee hours to less than part time makes no stinking sense. A company cannot realistically expect to have any loyal employees if the employees are only serfs to be used at the company's leisure, which is what flex scheduling means.

Try to pay the rent, utilities, food bill, car payment and insurance on a whopping $11.00 an hour @ 30 hrs a week and then toss in a healthcare insurance policy from BC/BS.

I'm willing to lay odds you would not be able to do so. Look back to the 30s and show us how many people could retire without being in poverty. Without the federal mandate for social security there would be no retirement for many and in your own words you've stated how much you lost in the la-la land of 40lks and IRAs. Would you trust Citicorp with what you have in the bank if it was not backed by the FDIC? I very much doubt it.

If the program is so good why is there a punishment for not being a part of it?

That is my point all other insurance is not mandated by feds.....

The companies are cutting back to avoid the costs associated with obcare..... Remember too, it was a Dem leader who said the people will be able to enjoy their lives more now due to the extra time they will have on their hands.

Nancy Pelosi “But we have to pass the [health care] bill so that you can find out what’s in it....”

As far as 40 hour work week here is what your Dem Nancy Pelosi has to say about that. "Some parts of Obamacare need to be clarified, she acknowledged, but losing that 40-hour work week will really free Americans to “pursue your happiness … follow your passion.”

David it's almost Sept. 30th and I can't believe how many dead people are laying in the streets because they didn't have free health care. I guess they have been picked up late at nite and put in a Soylent green machine. How did we ever survive with out the great O's wisdom.
And by the way all that $$$ lost in 09 was all on paper. I did or anyone else lost a penny in the bank account. As most of us that let the market adust we all got what we lost back so whats your point.
I look at it this way if your hours were cut that gives you time to get a second job. Or cry and expect the rest of us for a hand out.

Yeah, we can passionately seek a 2nd and 3rd job to make ends meet. Maybe a whole lot of people will sign up for federal assistance too, and we can just lay around and drink.....

onfire! Ya beat me to it!

Let's see: Marco Rubio stated that 75% of small businesses now say they are going to be forced to either fire their workers or cut their hours.

Most small businesss, those with under 50 employees DO NOT have to provide health insurance to their employees.(in fact some businesses with fewer than 25 employees may qualify for tax credits under the law). The claim that 75% of small businesses were reducing their workforce was based on a misreading study from the U.S. chamber of commerce. The study actually found that less than 10% of small businesses surveyed would have to cut their workforce or cut hours.

can you two guys tell me how to work two flex time jobs? I've been offered one at a major box store but I have to be there at 630 each morning and will leave each day at 1030 am. I have to punch back in at 230 pm and work until they tell me to go home, could be 600pm or 900 pm. They say they have to schedule according to demand.
I applied at another box and they said they could use me from 1130 PM til 430 AM, 3 days a week. Days are subject to change according to workload. They couldn't promise more than 24 hours at each of the places.

What do you geniuses think I should do?

Onfire, old buddy, are you a volunteer firefighter or a "paid" fire fighter? My question was aimed at the person that stated they lost $300,000.00 in 2009, he's a mod on this board and I was hoping he'd tell me he got that all back, without telling me I was out of line.

Well Dave, I don't think we geniuses know what to do at this point. We are each victims of this present state, and each alone of us try to figure what is left for us. Jobs have dried up, Pizza Hut isn't hiring, my kids are ever needing, and I just do what I always do - send resumes.

The best we can do is continue to try, always continue to try.

That always worked for us - up till now. And now I see wages at below 1/3 of what I make now, which is 1/2 of what I made before.

Are we angry?

What do you think? Genius doesn't pay bills and put food on the table at the same time.

All along, we thought YOU were the genius..... You told us you were....

David no longer paid did36years the 300 tho. was a paper loss not cash if he lost in the market when your hero took over you needed to have ba11s enough to stick I also lost that but waited and it returned with out help from the goof. No Money is not lost till Obama takes it away.

Geniuses comment is uncalled for.

Dave, my loss was in 2002, not 2009 and no I did not get it back, you don't get your money back in a company bankruptcy.

So what did I do when I lost all that money and my job. I got by the best I could working what ever I could. It took 10 years to work my way back to the wage scale I was making.......

I will not have the retirement I would have had but luckily I still have 3 small pensions from previous jobs and with SS I will get by just not in the style I would have had.

If need be wife and I can always retire in central or south America.

At least I will be able to eat the name brand dogfood....:D

Well Dave, since you ARE the genius here, where you at? Didya go hide? Why can't you answer? Tell US what to do next, you genius you.

Wow, ask for a little advice and ya get beat up here.

I was just wondering what three jobs to take in order to avoid applying for food stamps or EBT.

The scenarios I described are what is available out there right now, I just forgot to add the jobs paid $8.35 & $9.20 an hour respectively. I don't want to become a burden on you folks.

Do you think Obamacare has a death panel that applies to hungry people?

Davest, you did not come across as just asking for advice, with the genius comment to start the post and wording of post then and now it seems combative. Even your reference to my situation.

We have consistently said we have no problem with people who are not abusing the system...

When I was laid off I contacted local property managers and got work cleaning rental houses after people moved out, I went to garage sells, thrift stores and flea markets and resold on eBay and did other odd jobs while looking for work.

Careful Dave, you are straying into a land ruled by "online bullies".

Last time I went down a similar path I was told that I "contribute nothing" and that I am a "thorn that needs to be plucked". As if to rub salt in the wound, that lovely little personal tirade against me was locked so that I could not defend myself and it was left up for all to see.

Send me the hot ink to it.
