Ahh a dreary damp day here today, but we are out tomoz, so didn’t let the weather put us off! 😆 xx

I found this strap fitting, now to my eyes it looks a bit like an animal…. but that may just be wishful thinking? The a little buckle, 2 little tack mounts, a little stud with a B on it, drawer handle, half a crotal bell, buttons, some kind of token a crusty Roman, then I hit the big time with a base silver Roman AND a quarter hammered 😆, himself found 4 crusty Romans, and was last seen weeping as he made his way back into his house 😆 xx

Tomorrow we are out waddling with the Bassets so no detecting.. but a day like today will keep me going till next weekend! xx

Sweet, another great day! Jealous again...

If the reverse of the Roman is COS III, the coin can be dated between 140-144 AD.
If the reverse of the Roman is COS IIII, the coin can be dated between 145 and 161 AD.
The reverse figure is most probably either Moneta, PAX, Liberalitas, Aequitas or Fortuna depending on what is held in her right hand. What appears as her right hand near her waist is actually a fold in her clothing.

Keep detecting and posting 😎

Congrats on the outing!
Doubly on the wishful thinking.

Big congrats on another first , your base silver. Wow.

Hammered is a slang term for quite drunk. Else it might suit you for a nickname.
But starting to wonder if you were dragged elsewhere if they would still pop up, and I'm not quite willing to bet against such.

Be suspicious of Himself if he offers to carry (as he should) your unit to the boot, or touch your metal detector to check or inspect or clean or adjust .
He may mutter a lot on the next hunt or two. That's alright. But check that his detector is on before he heads for the horizon.

Cru'dad's ID:

I believe this Denarius is ELAGABALUS who used the Antoninus Pius style legend.
So coin is an AD 221 Sears 7534 RIC Vol IV no 42 minted Rome legends as follows:
Obverse: MP ANTONINVS PIVS AV[G]
Reverse: [PM]TRP IIII COS III P[P]/Star(*) in left field/ Providentia stood left holds Rod over Globe and Cornucopiae.
