Help with button ID

[diggerdoug]

I found these two buttons in PA around York. There were some old burial stones marked from the late 1600s. They are two piece buttons the size of a penny. They were found about a foot apart. I think they may have royal crowns on them. Maybe from the revolutionary war or war of 1812? Any help I.D.ing these buttons? Another Garrett AT Pro Find.

What is the writing on the rim of the buttons?

Sporting button - golf - blazer button, I think early 20th C, forgot...

Im not sure it looks like it may be latin or in that style.

Yes, it is a modern-era button. It is from a man's Sportscoat, in this case almost certainly from a golfing jacket. It shows the emblem of the Royal Black Heath Golf Club, a famous one which is located in Scotland. The presence of the emblem doesn't mean it is actually from there, it's just a popular emblem for Sportscoat buttons. Several other diggers here at TreasureNet have found the same type of button and posted it in the What-Is-It forum in the past.
