Dug this on a river bank of a 1700s fort. It was completely encrusted and when I chipped off the sediment, I found raised numbers on the inner edge ascending from 8, but skipping 11 and 12. On the other side it has a raised line. Feels military-like, maybe modern? Thanks for helping with this! One possibility is that it is a piece of a bearing/bushing could be made out of bronze. If it was mine I would file a small notch in it to see what is the color of the metal, that would help to make an Id.

It would be a yellowish color like brass. It could also be a brass bearing but I am thinking bronze because your part has a dark patina.
This is just my very limited educational guess.

To me, the style of the numbers look to be 20thc? :icon_scratch:
I don't get an 18thc vibe from this piece... no idea what it's from though.
