I moved from Seattle to just outside Shelton years ago. I mainly head to the central cascades for gold and jade and any where in the state for treasure. I wouldn't trade this life for anything. Small scale mining, treasure hunting, rock carving(jade). I'm on prospectors time and I'm loving it.

Lots of beaches on the south side of the Columbia.
Wish I could get to some of the islands too.
Don't know if you can hunt the big fort there in Vanc. but lots of folks there for fireworks in the past.
