Hi all. I've been lurking here for a couple months and decided to join.
I've always had an interest in metal detecting but just never tried it til a few years ago when I borrowed a cheap detector to hunt an old farmhouse next to a civil war site. Didn't find anything (it had probably been hunted before) and didn't give it much thought anymore.
Had some health issues in January that put me out of work and gave me a lot of free time so I thought about buying a detector. Found this forum and all the cool stuff you guys find and that made me decide to get one. I'm just starting off with the el cheapo Harbor Freight one until I decide how much I will enjoy MD'ing.
Just tried it out a couple hours yesterday for the first time and will post in Today's finds (a day late) later today after taking a picture to upload.
