This object is made of fairly heavy duty brass, very crude and has the letter "H" stamped in one side. It has an old rusted nail/pin going through it with some decayed wood still in the hollow shaft. Thought it might be an old cane handle or something of that nature. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, chris Also it looks to have a #3 stamped in the other side & has file marks on it.

Though the same about the window opener, but this is not one.... On the window openers, you have the one side of the hook facing down as in the relic to open the window, and the other side faces up to close the window. Too small for a rowing boat hook. Umm must think on this one.

God bless

Yeah, but also look rather tall if it's a spigot part. Although that's what it looks like ???

What they said about a window lifter and closer. My old grade school had those windows above the door. The teacher assigned chores to people in my class like dusting the erasers, picking up and emptying the waste basket and closing and opening the little window with a pike on a pole. I was too ornery to get to do any of that stuff. I mostly just got to stand in the corner. Monty

I remember these from grammer school. They were used to pull shades down on very high windows. I believe they are too small for pike poles. They were also used to open and close the windows above door ways.

I agree with ballbuster. This was most likely used for pulling down shades and roll up maps in schools. My eyes opened wide when I saw this item. It's the first darned thing I recognized in this forum. My first & second grade teacher was in love with her hook pole. I never saw any other teacher use one, but this lady burned that image into my mind forever. She was constantly playing with the shades!

It looks like the end of an old school pole window opener to me too. We never had shades on our windows.

Hi guys and Gals,

As said earlier, I do not think this is one of those hooks for opening windows as both hooks face the same way. How do you close the window? Below is a picture of what I mean of a window pole hook. Note one side faces up for closing the window, and the other faces down for openeing the window.

I am not sure what the hook that was found is for, but it is not for windows.

boat hook used to pull things closer from a boat thus both hooks face inward. --- thr window opener close has on hook in and one out as seen above (quite correct)

I said it once before, but it could be just a decorative flag pole/staff topper.

humm on second thought ---the hook part to pull the window latch open with ---- with the "v" between the two hooks to push em closed with?
