Does the Dalton look like it's a recent break possibly? Found these in a small high hilltop food plot I have plowed. It would have been a beauty. Location is Central Missouri close to MO river. 20170730_171839.jpg

It's deeply fluted on both sides. I'm going to have to take the table dirt screen I made and start throwing scoops of dirt on it from that spot.

Nice find! I can't tell for sure from the photos if it is a modern or ancient break, but if I had to guess form what I can see, I would say ancient. Sounds like a fun and interesting idea to sift or screen in that area. My guess is you will find more artifacts, but probably not the other piece to that heartbreaker?

If the break area is the same color as the rest then its ancient. Hope you find the other half of it. Keep looking every time you go by that area and look hard. I have a spot like that I have been looking for the other half of a Beaver Lake for the last 3 years but of course Im still looking.

O man, i would be sick to, im waiting to see if you possibly can find the other piece but probably not ,do look . i have friends that make whole collections of those broken Daltons and Clovis breaks .

Nice finds tkaz looks like you have great spot to hunt even being broken the dalton base is killer also the little bird point. I would be doing some digging there if you have permission.

Heading back to the farm today to burn some food plots I sprayed last week and see if I can find the other half of that fluted Dalton. I have a 8x4ft sifter I made last year i may try.

Well i hope you find it but, 4x8 sifter how the heck you gona shake that thing?
Ok I took a pic today of it. I don't really rake it. I just toss shovel fulls of dirt on it. Then slowly pick up one side. The soil is very fine from being plowed a couple months ago with a few rains on it. Bottom 3 are fluted...the Dalton or clovis is on both sides.
