Today I hunted two different areas. One was along a street next to a park where bushes and vines and brush had recently been removed. Spent about 2 hours there hunting up and down the side of the street. There was no sidewalk, just grass and dirt and roots from the bushes. Found a few clad pieces, buttons and toy cars. Then I moved to a small, open, park/picnic area that I had found a couple late date silver pieces at a couple weeks ago. This little area seems to be used now mostly for dog walking and you must watch your step, or else. I was hoping for maybe one more silver piece out of there, but I got real lucky and found two big ones.

The first one was this Washington Quarter:

Then when I was almost ready to leave, I took a big leap into the past and unearthed this beautiful 1876 Seated Liberty half. Believe it or not, it was only about 3 inches deep.

Excellent finds Bob... i Found an 1877 Seated half on 4/12 ,its not in as good of shape as yours.

Is that a die gouge on the sheild? ???

Common year for the seated half but very uncommon condition!! :o Very Sweet. ;D Really don't see many of those posted here. You did well.

You have made some great finds lately.

Bob

Thanks for the compliments everybody. I remember thinking that there must be a Walker on that little field. Never did I expect to find a Seated Half there. I've been back there once and found no silver, not even a wheatie. But I'm not done with the place.

Ringfinder: A Minelab Explorer.

Coinman: A Minelab Explorer and a lot of luck.

Jim: Not a die gouge, just a scratch. You can look at it at the next meeting.

What a great looking coin!!! With that coin in the ground you had better NOT be finished hunting there. There might be some little seated coins also....dimes, quarters, half dimes, maybe some flying eagle cents!!!!! They are crying to be found!!!!! ;D ;D

Congrats on the old silver! HH, Mike

Hey Bob,
That is one great coin, looks like it still has a lot of detail.
Nice find.

I am using this coin's picture as my desktop and the glow is fabulous; what a coin! The background and the flash from your camera give it an eerie look.

Beautiful coin, Bob! Still has a lot of detail on it.

I just noticed under you picture you're from delco. Where abouts? I'm in marple twp.

I have to say, that is one @#$*@#$&%! fantastic looking coin! Congrats! ;D
