Wow I've never seen that before. Maybe the grooves on the inside were used for grinding. Could have been part of a paint maker; they would grind berries and beetles on the grooves to make paint. Very cool!
Sifting a bog like area I found while contracted to install a fish pond for a real cool Guy that lives close to a very old spring. Its muddy and full of mosquitoes but well worth it.
That sounds like a killer spot, man! How big is the spring? It might be worth it for you to dive or dig there, too. Springs always have tons of potential; they were almost always occupied by indians and they preserve stuff really well. Sucks on the Mosquitos, though.
The site is awesome. It seems pretty stratified below the surface too. I was talking with the land owner about continuing my work there to a point. I'm keeping records and running string where I can then let the local historical society in.. but... We both have had bad experiences with Archie's so its just talk for now.(he said he wants me to supervise) I'm not sure about that one. Archie's are generally a huge pain.
I appreciate your input Stefen but I'm very aware of coil design and tool marks from construction..I've seen thousands. It is neither.also I'm very familiar with the method of pottery construction of this tribe and coil was not used
Cool finds! I was at the LA Treasures Museum, when Wayne pointed out some of his finds had designs inside & outside. This was several months ago, it was really neat looking at them & hoping to find some one day.
