Guess I'm A Crass, Inconsiderate, Neanderthal, and Hater!

couple years back in a small town in colorado I think, wife and I sitting in our car ( parking was angled right off the street)

two small girls run out to their trunk to put something in, traffics creeps as they see it

so I get out and kind of aim them back toward the sidewalk while watching traffic

well, the mother figure comes out and can barely keep her haughty self from castigating me for interfering with HER children

My wife says she didn't like me interfering, I said I'm not gonna sit there and watch them get killed/ who cares what the mom thinks?

Love the sig, jeff.

All kinds of things happen at the Walmart........

There might still be hope for the kid... Mom? not so much!

If your daughter understands there will always be a window open between you....then disagreeing opinions are fine.
A two way street should you think she is out of line but if honest...hey be yourselves.

Checking the mail about a month ago I spotted a toddler in a diaper across the busy ,high-speed road hiding behind a mailbox post and playing peek a boo with me.
His home was a couple hundred yards away and no one was with him.
With a giggle he waddled towards me( on the other side of the road) and I yelled " No! STOP". ( I'm normally quiet ,but do have occasionally stubborn dogs.).
He stalled , then took another step and got another " No! STOP".
Being on crutches meant he could move about as fast as I if I tried crossing the road , and even though I was a stranger I was under the impression he wanted to join me and would try to meet me by advancing more and when he stopped the second time I yelled " HOUSE! NOW!.
He backed up a couple feet ( sigh) and looked confused while I yelled "Get in the house!".

My bellowing inspired some one from the house to show up scolding the toddler and escort him back.
I wanted to issue a warning citation upside some bodies head.

A senior neighbor on my side had hobbled up about then and said he was scared not knowing what to do and dreading the " thump".
A mutual feeling.

Wow. I didn't know 'millennial' was a political statement.

Your heart is in the right place, doing the right thing. That little guy has more than just you trying to protect him.

Guess I'm A Crass, Inconsiderate, Neanderthal, and Hater!

me too, you did the right thing
her attitude will have a big change, when she has children
just cant beat show & tell, no matter age

A whole lot more hurt than just being embarrassed would be coming that mom's way if her child got killed.
You did the right thing.

You need to disown your daughter. We all are wondering how the mother would had fell if her son got killed. She would had to spent the rest of her life in jail for her son being killed. You did the right thing by trying to safe the boy. It was good for the mother that nobody called the cops and that she would had been arrested. God bless.

I'm not convinced that calling men with guns would solve the problem. What do you suppose the men with guns will do? Next thing when they get done with the lady they might want to check you out for some reason. All of a sudden you are a suspect.

First, to get involved with sue happy people in this day and age is not wise. Second, you call them and dont hang around to give a statement let them see with their own eyes what is going on, it's called an anonymous tip. Third, I am not calling men with guns, I am calling law enforcement officers. Last I heard, bringing your child into a dangerous situation without supervision is child endangerment. Forth, if the parent stepped=up and did their job as a parent, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Lastly, some people are lucky, have children and don't give a damn about them. Then there are people who missed out on having any.

Duckshot, I understand what you mean by turning the tables on you, but if you aren't breaking the law, what would they find? They aren't the Gestapo, you have rights. If that did happen to me, I would ask for their supervisor and wait to speak with him/her when they arrived. But truthfully, I would of done it anonymously.

I was detecting in a Park the next town over. During my time there, a father in his late 20's or early 30's had his to daughters with him. The girls ran to the tot lot as he walked over and sat on a bench. I watched him for a while. He was nose deep into his smart phone the whole time, not even looking up on occasion to check on his 2 preschool aged girls. 10 minutes passed so I decided to go detect near where he was sitting. As I was swinging my coin in front of where he was sitting I made the comment "One of these days you will look up and see they are both over the age of 18" hoping he'd get my drift that he should be enjoying the time with his girls. He heard me and replied "I am doing work". In a few moments he gathered his girls together and went home. I often wonder who is going to raise the children of the Millennial generation since they are so tied to social media and their smart phones. I count my blessings that I grew up in the 60's and 70's.

Back then the world was less PC and less concerned about "FEELINGS"

HEAR HEAR !!! Well spoken my friend and I absolutely agree. ~S~:icon_salut:

I am still pretty quick and agile for an older guy. I would have made every effort to snatch the child away from danger. If that would not have been successful I certainly would have been screaming to alert everyone in the vicinity of the present potential danger of a child running through traffic unattended. Having identified the irresponsible parents I can only imagine some choice words I may have had for them. You did what you felt was correct and I for one can NOT judge you on that my friend. Thankfully the man in the truck was not distracted with a hand held techno gizmo and was actually paying full attention to driving. Something that is becoming less common these days. Peace.

Yes and then that dead beat, piece of trash "mother" would have you arrested for kidnapping! Just sayin'...

I applaud you for the idea, but if the child ran faster and more recklessly since a stranger was chasing them and then was hit, you might be held liable.

I understand but, there is something in my DNA that would rather risk what this fracking government might do to me. I was the fastest kid in my class and can still motor for short bursts. If any three or four years olds can out run me today I think I'll quit metal detecting.:lips:

Ya' know, back when I grew up most every little boy wanted to be a hero. I still have that little boy inside me. If this flipped up upside down inverted POS nation has become that corrupted and devoid of what it once stood for than let them toss my useless carcass into the brig. Someone has to rescue the masses of stupid people flooding our streets. LOL! Maybe I'll just move to some remote area of the planet and find me a cave to hide in. :BangHead:

You know I am seriously starting to worry that there isn't going to be enough caves left for all of us. :help:

I have connections in Costa Rica where my late father owned a jojoba bean plantation. I have often considered leaving this messed up country and just chilling on the beach down there. I am afraid when the wheels come off the American bus I would regret not being here to do whatever small and insignificant part I might play in helping those few that remember what this nation used to be like. I believe my dad would want me to go down swinging for the sake of righteousness. I reckon my Father up above as well. I think I need to come down from my Monster energy drink buzz and take some melatonin.:tongue1:
