YEAH ~ that is a great tag! NICE FIND!!!!

That's one that makes you stop and have to research . . . . . is it dated 1887 and serial number #1953 . . . . or is it dated 1953 and serial #1887? . . . . . . . Lucky for you it is the best case ~ DATED 1887!!!! SO AWESOME!!!!!

I found this odd Saint Paul dog tax tag a couple years ago. Had to look for the photo so I could add it to this thread. (Some really interesting tags on here! Neat!)

Found this one in Bishop, Ca. about 6 years ago. After insane, exhausting research I was (hopefully) able to ascertain this is the only known dog tax tag from Bishop.IMGP0974 (640x480) (640x480).jpg

Still got MY old dog tags.... 1967! TTC

Wow. Alot of dog tags. If all the dog tag collectors got together for a convention do you think one or two pizzas would be enough? Sorry, just kidding. Not exactly a dog tag, but everytime I see a DIP sign on the highway it reminds me of my ex-wife. Does that count as a dog tag?

TimC A little more humor.... " When I die let all the dogs in the town (poop) on my grave. It won't be long before my grave has better flowers than yours." TKC

Helloi!

Your 1927 Bishop CA tax tag is SWEET!!! NICE FIND!!!

But it is not the only known tag for that town. In the latest edition of William Bones' book US DOG LICENSE TAGS it has 1908 as the oldest known tag for Bishop California.

Now go dig up one dated 1907 or earlier!

Funny you mention a convention! the ISALC just had our annual convention in Cedar Rapids Iowa just last month. Unfortunately I was unable to attend. I didn't hear how many people attended, but I know our club membership is only about 150 WORLDWIDE!!
You are correct ~ there's not a lot of us avid dog tag collectors out there. But if there's a piece we need/want, we're willing to put out some $$ for it!

This one was recently dug in Boise Idaho! 1912!! It is a new Oldest Known for Boise!

I have a City of Detroit, MI from 1905. It is brass and space for 3 numbers on it. So they had up to 999 dogs!!

1905 City of Detroit Dog Tag.

Here it is. I found it 8-9 inches down at an old homestead 35 miles from Detroit, with my DFX.104_0467.JPG104_0468.JPG

I found this while re-landscaping the yard. The house has been in the family since 1937. A prior owner ?2012-11-29 21.00.33.jpg

1918 Washington County Ohio

Found this 1918 Washington County Ohio Saturday. Pretty rough shape.

Dog 001.jpgI dug this dog tag today 4/8/13. It must be a 1973 dog tag.
I was hoping 1873 but it's the shape of a fire hydrant and I don't think they had any back then.
