Hey guys. This is my first post on here so stick with me!! I'm located in Phoenix and I've collected some Quartz specimens from various locations of the valley and came across this piece yesterday. Cracked it open and no obvious signs of gold (I don't think) but I'm definitely intrigued by it. Any suggestions as to what it might be?

I have quite a large collection that I love and have no clue what they are.
I did buy a diamond tester and recently was going through my finds to see if anything was worth keeping.(I have sooooooo many) my sunroom is starting to look like a small mine. I have smashed a lot with a hammer while going through a geode faze and while checking this rock I got this.........

Identification Help

Here are a few of my collection. Lots had bits of paper with illegible writing. Most were collected in the 70s.
first post, I hope I did it right. These are three rocks. Some pictures normal, and some enlarged with a couple of lenses out of a photo enlarger, and some with a loupe. I thought turquoise but not sure, looks kinda crystallized which leads me to believe it may be something else... can't remember lol.. crisso something or other lol.. helppppp The black rock has cracks filled with a dark green crystal of some sort.

I'm not a geologist and I don't even play one on TV, but all that green like that... Copper... Lots of copper.

Apparently the blue is Azurite, which is also copper based....

Here is some green and blue stuff I picked up this summer... And I know its copper based, because I know where it came from.

My grandpa found these on his land in the mountains of Colorado near Estes Park. They are quite magnetic and very heavy. The flip sides of each look the same as the other.

Help With Galena?

A couple of us were out detecting up in the mountains just outside of Denver this weekend, and saw a construction project going on, so we decided to check it out.
While we were there we saw a old timer scratching around one of the stone walls. He started pulling out what he referred to as silver sulfate, (or sulfide).
When he was done, he told us to have at it.
Brought quite a few specimens home with me, and am curious about them. I think they are mostly argentiferous galena, but really know little about the mineral.
Would it be worth getting them assayed for silver content? (I brought home easily 20 pounds of the stuff)
The mineral is very fragile, but if the larger pieces are broken apart carefully, will they show off more of the crystalline structure?
Should I go back for more, and really investigate the area for other minerals.
Any and all info would be gratefully appreciated.

I also believe that the small gold-ish band on the first photo is pyrite, magnified it has small cubic crystals.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is. I was out looking for artifacts the other day in what I call the ( village ). It is a place where the Indians must have lived for many years. There are many different type of stone tools and different types of chert in the area. I came across this very interesting stone that is not native to the area and was wondering if you guys could help me identify this stone.

Almost positive what you have there is sericite coating on your quartz. Sericite is essentially very fine grained muscovite mica. I have seen sericitic alteration like this in hydrothermal veins of quartz. This is especially true when the quartz contacts the wallrock of some sort of intrusive body. There are some sulfides likely mixed in such as pyrite and maybe some chalcopyrite. There may even be some ankerite or siderite in there but it is hard to tell based on the lower resolution of the pictures. To me that rock looks like it needs to be assayed because it seems to have been subjected to various types of alteration over time which is a good sign.

Thanks 1337scum. I wouldn't be surprised about sericite mica, because mica is everywhere around here. I also have these photos below of quartz from the same spot, and I believe it's related to the quartz in the photos above. I think I see pyrite in this stuff, but not too sure about the other minerals. What do you think?

Hard to tell because it gets blurry when I blow it up on my screen. The first rock looks like it has been rounded a bit and may not be from the immediate area. The subsequent pictures seem to be the same rock and different views of it. All views seem to have lots of muscovite and I think I see some sericite in the more greener parts. One thing about muscovite and sericite is that it feels greasy when you touch it. The other thing about these micas is that they tend to shine bright in the flash of a camera which makes them hard to ID sometimes and they can fool you. Do you have a way of taking closer or more high res pictures? Some of these rocks look kinda juicy to me and I think I see chalcopyrite in some of them which would be good sign. I especially like the last picture. The one thing I noticed is you are taking pictures in darker areas most of the time and the flash is distorting some of what is being seen. If you can take some pictures outside in natural light or in more ambient light or with a higher res camera, I may be able to tell more.

Sorry I cant tell much more about it at this resolution but I am curious if you crushed and panned any of this stuff to see what you get? Short of an assay, that is a good idea because this stuff looks favorable for mineralization to me.

I found this in the central Black Hills of South Dakota in an old tailings pile from a mine out in the woods. I know this probably doesn't help much, but it does have quite a few spots that sparkle, unfortunately I couldn't seem to get a picture to show this.
