We found this rock in our backyard when we uncovered and dug out a 160yr old root cellar. It fell out from behind one of the walls. Do a streak test. Rub it on the underside of a porcelain toilet tank top. What color is the streak?
I did this. It does leave a streak behind. I did this with various positions of the rock. It leaves a black line streak and a rust color (red/brown) depending on how I position the rock. I suspect maybe this rock is composed of magnetite and hematite?
Thanks
Hey, I've found some rocks which look a bit molten. Location is in the mountains at an altitude of 1,400m above sea level. I'm figuring there has been a light stream passing near many years ago but now there's nothing, just a river-like pathway. These are the photos:

I hope the images are clear, any feedback is appreciated.
This is a huge rock. It must weigh over 100 pounds. I’m trying to figure out what it is. I think my father found it 70 years ago in the Napa valley river, but I’m not positive. The rock is pink and white. View attachment 1620750 View attachment 1620751
Would love help identifying this rock. It was found in Michigan but in a flower bed of red rocks. View attachment 1620975
