Got A Rock you Want Identified? Post it here! gimme a good picture or 3 or 4!

Green: Malachite
Pinkish: Rhodochrosite
Blue: Lapis Lazuli

Not sure on the last one.
I have never seen malachite that looks like that. Did you blow up the photo on a large screen or are you viewing it through a phone? It has a mottled/ spotted surface among other things.

Also, I still say the blue is probably sodalite (with all that white in it) not lapis. Can you do a streak test and let us know what color it is.

I agree, the pink if that's what color it is, could very well be Rhodochrosite. That last one ?????.

Anyone know what this is ?

Need help indentifing this rock , I found in Tulalip Wa Thanks 15239675676221052363183.jpg 1523967492411-1915309806.jpg

I would love to know what this is. recently a big storm came thru and washed tons of dirt away at a place I hike at and it had a big thick vein of this in other rock , slate I think. just wonder if I should go back and get all of it there ? There is a lot

Neither. I just checked the thumbnail on my laptop. I usually make but a guess from the thumbnail.
If I had to study every rock in detail; it would take to long.

I suppose it could be some sort of imitation of malachite, then.

Lapis can contain calcite; so I'm sticking with lapis. It fits what I've seen coming out of pakistan/afghanistan the last year.

Looks like a sulphide. Hardness and streak test it. Crush and pan some*; test for gold, or better yet - have an assay made.

* Don't forget to measure weight of crushed ore vs weight of any recovered gold. It'll give an idea if it's worthwhile. An assay will give you numbers.

A little description on the last one it is like a stone but seems to have wood going through the middle of it

Nope, sorry, no idea. Your best bet is to take it to a professional and have it ID'd in person; only way to know for sure.

I’m new to this just started the hobby streak test? And a assay ? I crushed some and panned it and it was all the same . Wasn’t much but dirt that separated from it.

Sandstone with some kind of metal?

So we found this rock in Lake Michigan It's really heavy. Some of its sandstone.

Rough “assay”— 1 35-kg bag yields 1 to 18 grams coarse unmelted gold after passing through improvised rod mill. To bring the product down without too much of a hassle, the indigenous miners supply food to the military and police assigned in the area and they also pay protection money to the territorial bandits and the New People’s Army hiding in the jungles of the mountain range. It seems everyone is content with the arrangement unless the local politicians interfere.
