Gold Ore

A little sample that was found with a metal detector. Crushed by hand then panned to wash away some of the dirt and clay? The photo is macro so real small particles, but the quartz shows and what looks like iron and free gold. I think we need a small smelter to retrieve the values trying to speed up the recovery what's your thoughts ?

I crushed the 100 gram? Ore piece and sorted a few pickers and crushed it again the powdered rock is soaking in muriatic acid some of the quartz is in wink . I don't know if there's a weighable amount of gold in the concentrates time will tell. I will pan this and dry then into the furnace. I weighed the pickers about two grams of rich ore and placed the rest of the crush in the wink.

A few days ago, I made a remark about gold out my backdoor. I walked about 100 feet and picked up a piece of float about 3 inches across I crushed and panned re -crushed several times then poured the float through a 50 then a 100-mesh? screen. I have Gold there's not a rock safe now lol.

Couple of lads rented shop space from me, they were doing the lab work for DiaMet, they were looking for minerals associated with diamonds.

One day at the shop the boys where happy as all get out, I said to Hank you guys found something of interest.

He replied yes, but the glacier had dragged this material miles away from the source..

I panned the crush from the 100-gram specimen after a few days in wink. I tried to smelt a little black sand out of this I had to much material in the cupel, and it boiled I crushed the slag and panned that's the 4 little balls near the top. I'm going to melt/smelt this gold maybe a bit of oxides and quartz still in there. I still have a jar with all the micro gold from this crush and others to smelt at a later date still waiting on a steel cone mold.

This is the total from 113 grams of ore well most of it I still have some soaking in muriatic. 10-grams of gold. The crushing is too much work for me I bought a K M Krusher it turns our rocks to dust. We already ran a test and have plenty of color now a miller table? to help clean all this powdered rock. The button in hand weighs 4 grams that's from the 100-gram ore sample

Wow, that's fantastically rich ore, 4 grams from 113 grams of crushed ore, for every 1000 grams you'll recover 35.39 grams which is well over a troy ounce of gold.

That's 10 grams of gold from 113 grams of ore. And no, I don't believe in same sex marriage but thanks' anyway. The 13-gram piece had 6 grams of gold after I re-smelted plus the 4 grams of gold from the 100-gram sample.

I'm caught up with all the ore samples and ran the fines through the blue bowl concentrator with a little mercury to trap the micro fines. I'm cleaning yesterday's gold and my son is out beeping rocks. The mine is flooded so it will keep its hidden treasures for now. But there's plenty of waste rock to play with.

Soon you'll want an induction furnace to melt your gold.

I own a 15ka dual station furnace, unfortunately it quit working but I was able to order the part needed for the repair from the vendor in China. Just need to install the part.

Yesterday's NOX 800 finds free gold and little pieces of ore with gold showing Little over 10 grams of dirty gold. A bag of random rocks from the waste pile. Crush soap and water into Blue Bowl we have little balls of gold. Nice little pinch from a couple pounds of rock. The little balls of gold are from the mill.

Playing with the crusher I got a bucket full of rocks from behind the woodshed I washed the pulverized rock in a tub with liquid soap it makes the red slurry real frothy. I skim the froth by slowly pouring off into a series of gold pans to let settle. The heavier concentrates go into the blue bowl with a little mercury. After the froth settles, I pan it slowly into another pan and let that settle a real slow process but I'm able to recover micro gold particles. Out of a half a bucket I found around ten fly specs and uncountable micro gold a little line in the pan. Break time a cup of coffee and I'll run the other half. A ball of mercury showed up with the second run so I couldn't get a visual but could feel a lot of bits in the mercury.

Fascinating Gentlemen. Just amazed how everything works to extract the gold from all the other things. Maybe some day I'll have enough for an ounce of gold, and can get someone locally to melt it down into a fairly pure button or maybe a small bar.

I'm playing with a homemade fluid bed concentrator it's working great I just have the water bar laying across the bed. Some fine-tuning tomorrow but it's catching the micro-Gold. I'm glad I saved all the slurry from the blue bowl it's loaded with micro gold.

The slurry from the blue bowl was full of the mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, It is an iron sulfide. And a little gold last night it looked like it was all gold lol.

But one sample will be loaded with iron oxides and a little fool's gold the next will have a lot of black sands and red sands and flour gold. The sample from behind the house just random rusty quartz rocks had more pyrites and less free gold. This sample was loaded with free gold a mix of black sands and iron oxides/red sands. I panned this to remove the red mud and now it's soaking in muriatic acid to break it down a little more. Then into the wink solution to dissolve the quartz sands and free up a little more gold.

The red substance could be Cinnabar.

Ore of the mercury is called "cinnabar" which is a composition of mercury and sulfur (mercuric sulfide, HgS).

I don't think it's cinnabar when smelted / melted we have a little pig iron the muriatic acid solution turns reddish brown. I guess I could slowly heat it and try to drive off liquid mercury? Is gold found in cinnabar? The high heat of our smelting furnace would vaporize any mercury.
