🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Gold button?

Hello all! New to metal detecting here. I’ve had wonderful luck with a few early 1800s sites. The most recent site produced a beautiful gilt button. The picture doesn’t do the back justice, in person you can clearly read the company name on the back “Bennet & Burnham”. Anyone have any further detailed info?

Nice button. It is a civilian button and dates from 1834-1843. Can you read the word on the bottom?

Great looking early coat button find, as fyrffytr1 mentioned, 1830 - 50 in design.
A soak in some lemon juice will really make the gold-gilt pop.

Oh cool! Thanks everyone! I’ll try the lemon juice today. Any other good recommendations for how to clean it? I’ll post a picture once I spruce it up a bit more of i can

Thanks for the lemon juice advice, that made a world of difference! I also found a matching one today that is easier to read on the back!

After using lemon juice 3-5 mins at a time, use an old tooth brush or soft nail brush to take the loose stuff off & remember to soak well in normal water to take off the Lemon Juice. Good for this type of button.
