I guess Larson got tired of the rocks that I post, or maybe felt sorry for me, and wanted to see me have a successful post. So, he gave me one! One on the house! Thanks! I have a family owned business, and a low chance of being fired. Thank goodness, I'm still at work, and still can't get any thing done for looking at every detail of every remarkable piece he sent me. They are great! The points he sent are so different but yet so similar to the ones here it is amazing. The ND. points seem to be much thinner than most in NC. But, the blades almost identical. The pottery , well, I don't know, never found but one or two pieces in NC. Enough comparing. Thank you Larson! What better way to preserve a culture than distribute it to the ones who will. This will go in a frame with North Dakota on it. He also sent a stick to flip stones with. I think this will help me a lot . If I don't bend down as often, maybe I won't feel as obligated to brings field rocks home. Here is a sample of what was sent!

That's because they are notched.that's not a true stem. That was wider than the shaft and cordage was wrapped in the notch to hold it on. Probably with animal adhesive also.

Thanks Gator. Those are nice looking points you have there. Don't take this wrong, but are they modern? I ask because, well, you don't seem like the type to haft an ancient find. Neither am I!

Oh yeah, thanks for the info. I can tell you spend a lot of time reading, and remember what you read too!!

Yeah they're modern. Only two I have. Picked them up at a pow wow to make a little display.

How was the pow wow? I have a friend who is the chief of the Sappony tribe. They are federally recognized from my home town. He has asked me to come to a few and I haven't yet. I'm way off topic here. My bad!

Gatorboy those spearheads are awesome. I was also lucky enough to recieve a box of goodies from Larson, He's a great guy.

I too have been on the receiving end of Steve's generosity. Every time someone comes around I show them my "Larson Frame"! He is the man!! Hopefully, one day I'll have something to send him!

I hope that I will also. Larson is like Santa. He sends stuff all over. That is the coolest thing. Send bits of culture to all!

Mail box finds are truly fun. Looks like you got a good batch and that stick looks nice. Does Larson make his own flipping sticks?

Man yes! Larson has bound to be one good soul. The stick is nice too. Have you used yours yet? I think good luck lies in the stick. Bound to, because he is able to give stuff away that I would have framed, and will frame. You are right, those mail box finds are so pretty and different and easy on the back and no dirt in my pockets... How far should I go? River rat, I hope things are drying out around you. You didn't want the river to find the rat did you? Good luck and happy hunting to you!

Haven't use my stick yet. I venture out to the field, but we need rain to wash that silt off. Just too much work involved right now after Isaac...many folks stilled flooded out of their homes. I was just watching the news from the area below New Orleans, of the cattle on the roads, many still walking in water + more than 2,000 head drowned. That's a lot of money lost there. My cattle are all fine, they still having their "barn dance" in the artifact field.

I'm pretty sure that he does. It looks to have some time put into it. I'm going to use it tomorrow, and post all about it on the flipping sticks thread. I sure hope that post has a nice point or two in addition to the stick. Future will tell! Stay tuned !!
