Lots of people have used old marine containers to build homes. You can pick them up for scrap value so your shell(s) for the house is way cheaper than buying new material.

Some people also pick up reclaimed lumber from old barns or houses, etc....if you're handy you can do most of the work yourself.

That could be a country getaway project for you.

I looked at many many videos etc. on this and it can be a money trap. There are so many people who though they can build it for cheap and than they paid way more than they ever expected.
I liked this idea much at first. Also we have some other rules here in germany and you can not build a home as you want. There are exact rules for it and a lot of government guys who just wait steal your money etc.
