So I keep coming across gates blocking road access while on BLM land. Most recently in an area many people target shoot (lots of old hard rock mines andprospects in the area). Whats up with that? Can they legally block access like this?

This particular gate block the road a long distance from where the road connects to public street. Meaning you have to turn around and drive back the way you came to exit.

You can always call and report the situation. The BLM and FS do spend a lot of time patrolling.... Do you know how much land they have to cover and how dangerous some situations are? Some states have meth labs and growing operations in the hills. Multiple have been found and some linked to pesticides and animal poison in peoples drinking water. It's actually easy for these people to get fined especially if they leave their personal information, receipts and other belongings with the trash. The same things goes with bullets, arrows and animal bones. Most cases actually start small like receipts or arrows being found next to bones. They take that information and grow it into a case or check with other law enforcement agencies to see if they have any suspicious activity. If you want your area to be clean and open then report the issues even if you don't see the person committing the crime. They will try their best to find out who is doing it or determine if they need trail cameras to catch the dumpers, poachers, and illegal logging in the act.

Cutting torches and bolt cutters work well in my neck of the woods. It seems that when you cut them up into little pieces they get tired of trying to put them back together and eventually give up.

Have you done much exploring out towards Menifee? theres gold out there too. Don't forget that its in the Santa Anas also. There are old forgotten CCC trails and camp areas out there too and Gold and Silver mines.

I have not done much in Menefee as I'm not sure where to look. I have not come across any solid documentation on the area other than some vague references in one author James Klein books. There are a couple Spots indicated on the MyLandMatters Historical mining claims section that would be a good place to start I suppose.

As for the Santa Ana range. I have done some exploring but have yet to find color. a week ago or so I spotted this rolled steel tank on ibeam sled which was pretty interesting! I have been wanting to hit San Lucas Canyon which has historical gold but again another locked gate. Or on hell of a hike to get out to it. I'm willing to take any suggestions you may have :P PM me hahaha 20180330_174619.jpg

I no longer support any treehuggers trying to save the forrest so they can camp and bury their trash in freedom. They cant police it so things are made off limits. The only person usuing the hills around here is the mining companies and we know how they responsible they are. We will get a nice new growth of pine trees in about ten years right?
