Garrett AT Pro

At pro has quite a few ups!!
Waterproof
Digital readout
Manual ground balance
Pro audio mode which is outstanding
Iron audio mode
Great depth detection

The AT Pro has auto and manual ground balance, iron audio, more notch filters, VDI numbers and operates at a higher frequency. It's a nice upgrade from the 350.

Also check out the AT Gold.

Unstable at most places unless sens is reduced. Arm cuffs have broken, But it is still an entry level unit. The AT Gold is much better.

Sandman, you don't even know what type of hunting they want to do. And your comment "Unstable at most places unless sens is reduced" is complete crap.
It would be better if you said nothing instead of unwarranted negative comments.

I just used my pro tonight after the chisel plow and found a 1895 Indian head in the field by my house with max sensitivity in pro mode with I discrimination ant 8 inches and it came in loud.

wow I need spell check lol I didn't hunt too long can't wait to get back out there. My reason for posting is the pro works great and I can run sens up to max most of the time so I don't know if you live in a very hot area or what sandman but up here in NW Ohio the pro works great.

You guys are way to sensitive about your detector. You'd think I was ragging your hunting dog. The AT Pro is a decent detector but the hype is way outta line. It is advertised as a beach detector when it can't operate in the wet saltwater sand, but there is fresh water. An you don't have to worry if you drop it in the water or are to dumb to come outta the rain. When your lacking experience in lots of other detectors you settle on your first, like your first girl friend. I don't hate my ATP, I use it as I like the weight, but my Tejon knocks the socks off of it. I carry it in my trunk so if I am hit in the rear end, I won't be out crying cause I lost my baby.

Not true. Atpro is as stable and rock solid as you want it to be, in the parks, woods, muddy fields, turf and fresh water. Its even stable in the salt. And its stable in the trashiest fairgrounds. I like machines that you can adjust gb and sense and scrim, I like to make them as unstable as I can take. I never have emf or rf problems even with a cell phone on, and high power lines dont bother it anymore than most machines. Atgold in not better than atpro. Better at what?

Sensitivity has nothing to do with it Sandman. The thread ask about features of a specific product. No one on this thread wants to hear your unwarranted negative comments or hear how amazing you think your equipment is. You can start your own thread for that :)

Ive only used my new at pro twice...im not an expert detectorist....I have 4 other detectors including a xterra 505......but heres what I do know about the at pro.....the other day in hard dry clay It hit hard on a dime and that dime was 10 + inches down.....I was very impressed with that

diggerdog if you really want to upgrade, you simply cannot go wrong with atpro. I like three tone, proportional audio, very stable, very good recovery. There in not much comparison between ace350 and atpro. Sandman mentions that atpro is a beginner machine. What he is trying to say is that it is a lower mid range machine and that there are a lot of machines out there that cost more and work better in the salt water.

I recently purchased the AT Pro and can attest that it is one of the most stable machines I've owned and used.

Sandman, the at pro WILL will work on a saltwater beach. The operator just has to know how to operate the machine in That type of condition. I just recently pulled a couple silver and an IH off an iron infested beach while hunting with three other detectorists. Bounty hunter, whites, and Fisher were all represented on that beach along with the garrett. It performed well imo.

What I am trying to warn you guys about is the ATP has been dumbed down from when it first came out. As for its performance on Wet saltwater sand, not all beaches have the same salt content or amount of black sand. For you to tell everyone that it hunts saltwater well is plain false to the newcomers that take you at your word and then they have trouble at their locations. They should check with other users at their beaches. ATP is a lower end midrange, but a 1280 would work at most places too, as would a Tiger Shark. All single frequency water detectors but with out the advanced audio of the AT PRO.

Talking about "dumbed down" ... your dumbed down comment as a general statement about the ATP is totally dumbed up. Maybe you should ask the poster of this thread what their intentions are with the ATP before you make dumbed up comments. For a mid-priced all around waterproof unit, the ATP works great in SoCal saltwater and everywhere else I have used it. It appears others have commented to this thread have no problem with SW either. Not everyone will be MD-ing in the Great Salt Lake, Salton Sea or Dead Sea as you must be referring to.
