First, let me say thanks to a great site and apologize for not posting sooner. I ran across this site back in March of this year and finally decided to give it a try. I started on March 9th and have enjoyed the highs and lows of this fantastic hobby. Since I'm a retired disabled veteran, I needed some type of hobby to keep me active. I first started out going to local banks, then extending out to towns within a reasonable drive and finally to box hunting.

I'm currently searching strictly boxes. I can't believe how rapidly this hobby has spread in just the past three months. It's very difficult to go to any town now and not fine it untouched by another CRHer. As you can tell by my post, their are many people who have taken up this hobby and not posted on this site. I personally couldn't sit back any longer and not share my experiences with fellow CRHer's. I also hope I can provide some suggestions to increase your silver totals.

As of right now, I search through 60 boxes per week. I have a system worked out that is working and has resulted in some nice finds. I posted my totals below which has been accumulated since March 9th of this year. I'm looking forward to sharing all of my fines in the future on this site and join in on the topic discussions. I can tell that their are a lot of wonderful people on this site and hope you all will welcome me aboard!!

QUOTE* Whatcha'll got! I'mma start it off with myself. I'm rollin' 18 boxes deep! $9000 on order every week, plus whatever loose I come up on! *QUOTE by Patrick Earl.

Which is it, 18 boxes deep, or 30 !! Quite a big difference.

Just more proof that not much said in here is legitimate. We got ourselves a bunch
of "Im better than you" types, having a little fantasy battle in here.

Ill up the ante... as of Monday, my weekly box orders will be 96 boxes , yup $48,000 a week.
One little old sweet lady teller hauls them all to my trunk with a dolly.(she gets donuts) I get them all in one day, and they all go back to the same bank, into the help yourself counter. They know me so well, that they dont charge me to buy the boxes, as I just return them after searching anyway. I have to replace coins I remove of course.

So, in reality, I dont have to have any money on hand. Its a searching only system. Brinks did contact me, and wanted me to sign a contract with them ,offering me 3rd party distributing rights. I refused as that would just take up more time.

Ive had days that I spent IN the bank, and never left. Search in the back office and leave it all there. A few times, I even got to search the vault coins, bags and rolls. They also call me upon every deposit of coin from all local business. Sweet.

One last point to touch on... My 300k house, 4 cars, DFX , summer home, 2 camps, and 2 boats, were ALL paid for from 40% halves alone. Keep in mind this is only in 8 months.

My 90% coin is still bagged and stored, $40,000 face ! How u like dat Pat ! I keep my bank in business just about. I have currently 58 safety deposit boxes loaded, and I get more by the week.

My wife JUST started a couple months ago, shes catchin up fast too. She works a whole state, seperate from me. I just about got all the silver in the North East wrapped up. You can look, but I guarantee you get 80 percent skunk boxes in Tri State area. NOBODY beats my system... not even armored car services ! Every one of those employees knows every silver coin they see in the hopper, is going straight to my bags.

There, Ive let you in on the secret of the skunk boxes. Silver wiped out bigtime.

I can see already that there are a lot of nice folks on this site but also several immature people who get their kicks by criticizing other peoples posts. This is one reason I stayed away from posting on this forum due to wise comments like this. I didn't join this site to brag or do one better than someone else. I joined it, so I could share in the excitement of everyone's fines and share my own ups and downs in this hobby. I sure hope I didn't make a mistake joining after reading comments like this!

No you didn't. If you surf the net at all, you know you will catch some stick, but that was not directed entirely at you either lol.
:)

Fortunately the silver supply is fairly self-replenishing, or I would say with the amount you are going through, nobody else in the SouthEastern US will ever find anything ever again!
;D

:o Wow, them a lot o' halves. Feel free to share any thoughts or tips Red. The majority of us are relatively polite, and willing to listen... ;D
We might get a little green with envy though... ::)

Raptapdata$$, I'm surprised someone deep in The Game like yosef confused by my box numbaz. Sometimes yo' order don't come in, sometime trick had forgot to place yo' order! Sometimes ya gots to add a strap of Benjamins to your papes stack and up dem orders! Braggin' on your baller-a$$ wtf-goin'-on-here-do-your-momma-work-da-teller-line sit'chiation ain't how Big Tymerz respect The Game! Might as well put up your real totalz now; already gave up yo' secret mefod.

oldred, much respect! Glad ya joined and shared wit us! Dis community can be chill time to time.

Oldred-

Please don't be offended by some of these posts - just write it off to being king of the hill - everyone wants to knock off #1 !

I am really interested in what you know about the distribution network - it looks like you have Loomis boxes there. I totally understand your reluctance to share after catching all this flack - one thing for sure - you got a voluminus response!

Welcome again and please keep us informed.

BTW - Thank you for your service to our country which allows us all the freedom to search for silver!!!

Welcome to the board! There are alot of nice people on
this site. I too am retired. I was a cop for 25 years. I
was in the military from '73-'79 USAF. I enjoy this hobby
for many reasons. Its as close to treasure hunting as I will actually get. Its fun to find odd coins and commemoratives. Its fantastic
to get silver. Most importantly it occupies my time.
I cannot nor am I trying to compete with folks that are able to
invest alot of time and money to this hobby. If I could become
more involved I probably would.
Sometimes folks can turn this into a competition with out really
meaning to. I guess its the nature of the beast. But for the most
part I think they really enjoy sharing in the successes as well as
empathizing with the skunks that other CRHers go through.
Good luck and try to reduce your photo size.

Thanks for the welcome! I also spent time in the USAF and retired in 1996 after 24 years. I continued to work for the AF for 9 more years as a civilian contractor. I wouldn't trade my experience in the military for anything and would do it all over again. I definitely have to admit that I enjoy this retirement life pretty well right now. Glad I discovered this hobby to keep me busy. Good luck CRHing.

Thanks for the nice response. I guess the responses caught me by surprise. I should have expected some doubters and not let it get to me. I wasn't trying to impress or offend anyone with my post. This is exactly what I do now with my free time and enjoy it greatly. I'm definitely not the only poster who has received negative responses and won't be the last. Looking forward to seeing some more of your great fines!

Welcome oldred!

Those are some amazing stats. I've always been curious about what can be accomplished in CRH with dogged persistance and you represent just about the limit while still maintaining a life! Glad you've got a partner to share the fun.

Do you do bags as well or just boxes? Have you found many foreign coins?

Thanks Immy for the nice comments! It really is a full time job for me but the excitement of finding silver is well worth it. Me and the wife have a hobby we now can share and enjoy together. I've worked hard to establish my contacts at the banks and it is really paying off right now.

I'm strictly doing boxes right now. I've found some unusual foreign coins that I'll post pics of in a latter post. I have a couple that I can't identify that other posters might be able to help me with. I haven't included the foreign coins in my count but might do that latter. Good luck on your search!!

Welcome to the forum OR.

You sure do seem to have a wonderful system and the number of boxes you go through makes even my four to six a week pale by comparison.

I do expect to pick up those totals though, when I retire.

Good to see you can search through that many .............and still continue to find keepers.

Continued good luck.

Congratulations and welcome Oldred! It is really a funny thing how people can be. Some guy doubts your totals, for the most part calls you a liar, and asks for a picture. You supply the picture and the smartass comes back with some more negativity! From my experience of this site, most people will find you innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. Look forward to seeing more from you!

Coincollector101,

I'm going through a bad patch of boxes right now, but I'm confident it will change. Every batch can be an absolutely surprise. Last week for instance went like this for each 10K I went through:

June 25: 132 40%
18 90%
TOTAL 150

June 27: 56 40%
77 90% (30 of these were Ben Franklin's)
TOTAL 133

June 29: 142 40%
22 90%

The week prior was much better and I consider a great week, but have had better.

Jun 18: 56 40%
22 90%
TOTAL 78

June 20: 266 40%
34 90%
TOTAL 300

JUNE 22: 160 40%
45 90%
TOTAL 205

As you can see you never know what to expect in 20 boxes. I have learned that, when you don't see any silver, the box usually doesn't produce very well. Also I average about 5 skunk boxes out of 20 boxes. Since I'm dealing in a large sum each batch, I don't let the skunk boxes get me down. Eventually you run into a box that starts producing.

Hope this information helps!!

Welcome aboard oldred
I don't know if you already mentioned this (my eyes are sore from going through my usual 61 boxes a week, jk) , but how do you manage to dump so many coins each week? I have to take on dirty looks every week just trying to get ride of 2 boxes.

I'm very fortunate to fine a few banks that allow me to dump my rejects. I have one bank that can take 20K each week and two other banks that can take 10K each. They allow me to place them in the bank coin bags, 1K per bag and bring them into their bank. We have an agreement that if it comes up short, my account will be charged for the shortage. So far, I haven't had any shortages in any of my bags. I consider myself extremely lucky to have this type of arrangement based upon some of the posts I have read. Good luck with your search!!
