First, let me say thanks to a great site and apologize for not posting sooner. I ran across this site back in March of this year and finally decided to give it a try. I started on March 9th and have enjoyed the highs and lows of this fantastic hobby. Since I'm a retired disabled veteran, I needed some type of hobby to keep me active. I first started out going to local banks, then extending out to towns within a reasonable drive and finally to box hunting.

I'm currently searching strictly boxes. I can't believe how rapidly this hobby has spread in just the past three months. It's very difficult to go to any town now and not fine it untouched by another CRHer. As you can tell by my post, their are many people who have taken up this hobby and not posted on this site. I personally couldn't sit back any longer and not share my experiences with fellow CRHer's. I also hope I can provide some suggestions to increase your silver totals.

As of right now, I search through 60 boxes per week. I have a system worked out that is working and has resulted in some nice finds. I posted my totals below which has been accumulated since March 9th of this year. I'm looking forward to sharing all of my fines in the future on this site and join in on the topic discussions. I can tell that their are a lot of wonderful people on this site and hope you all will welcome me aboard!!

Please give us a hint about your system!

Second, congrats on the silver....that is a fantastic total is such a short time....Kudos! Very nice. 60 boxes a week is just incredible & you must have one heck of a system. Your story is very familiar....ran out of nearby banks.....know the feeling.

Keep us posted and your finds and would love to see pictures.....because if you have been lurking in here....you know I like the pictures....ha!

Thanks LJ! I've enjoyed reading your posts and the great success you have had in your area. I will definitely post pictures in the future.

I will eventually share some of my methods with fellow members of this site.

I can't wait to hear what your methods are. Are they really something different? Or an interesting variation? You have me curious now! :)

Some are totally different and some are just variations. I'm very fornunate and blessed to be retired and have the time to devote to this great hobby. The majority of members on this site probably still work and can't spend their time searching through thousands of coins like I have for the past few weeks. I love to see people succeed and will provide suggestions and my personal opinions in future posts that will hopefully help.

What type of CRH do you do besides halves? I mean if I was retired and getting into it full time I would have to do at least pennies, nickels and dimes as well. Do you actually live off of what you make or just a hobby and some etra loot? Just curious, thats a fair sum of income. I could not take that many boxes though. :D Good Luck and keep us posted on good finds. Have you completed any sets of Walkers or Bens?

I have tried pennies, quarters and nickels. The pennies have produced the best with dimes second and finally quarters. I only have kept records for the half's, since this is what I mainly focus on right now. I do this as a hobby but know that I can sell them if I needed extra income. I did sell a large sum recently to generate some extra cash for a vacation in the Smokey Mountains and made a nice profit. I sold 2350 40% half's for $4,371 and 353 90% half's for $1,729 for a total of $6,099.00. It took me exactly two months to fine this many, and I wasn't hunting boxes during that time period. I might regret selling it when silver prices skyrocket, but I still made a nice profit and generated some extra cash for me and my wife. I set goals now for each week and what we plan to do with any profits made from silver sells when we eventually do sell.

I love to search through the pennies and nickels but after looking through so many half's each week, I have a hard time seeing the dates especially on the pennies. I plan on increasing my search of the other denominations in the future.

I have a complete set of Ben Franklin's and about half of the Walking Liberties.

Thanks for the response and great questions. Good luck on your hunting.

I've had no problem in getting all the coins I want. I have several banks that will order as many boxes as I need. I know I'm fortunate, but I've worked hard to establish the right contacts and earn their trust. I'm on a first name basis with many of the tellers I deal with, and they actually enjoy seeing me each week. One bank gave me a nickname due to the amunt of coins I purchase each week.

30K a week. That's 60,00 coins. Lets say you did nothing but search boxs for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. And that's just CRHing, not running around buying and dumping. You would have to check 714 coins per hour or 11.9 coins per minute. For 12 hours a day. 7 days a week. Non stop. And that doesn't count the pick up / dump time. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it just might be a duck. ???

It's definitely not a duck! I have a wonderful partner who helps me search these coins, my wonderful wife of 35 years. It use to take me about 18 hours to go through 10K coins by myself. Me and the wife can do it together in 10 hours. To take it a step further, it now only takes us 7.5 hours to go throgh 10K which is a tip I plan to share with members who actually believe in my posts and not be critically before they even get to know me. I have no reason to lie about this great hobby and what I actually do. If members don't want to believe, their isn't really anything I can do to change their minds. Hope you change your mind about the duck comment on your next post. Good luck in your search!

I'm a firm believer that people can be anything they want on the net. Seeing is believing. Let's see some pics of 10K in coin (20 boxes) in the the house being searched.

My next pickup is Tuesday. I'll be more than happy to post pictures of these 20 boxes and also what I fine. I don't blame you for being a little skeptical. My usual pickup dates are Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week, but the Holiday this week through things off a little. I had one bank who orders 20K for me each week forget to order their coins early based upon the Holiday and missed the cutoff. The head teller apologized to me more than once for messing up. I will only get 10K next week based upon this missed order, but I can catch up on some fishing instead. I will admit that searching through so many boxes each week takes its toll on my fingers and back. I guess I'm a CRH addict. Have a nice day!

Welcome! I thought I was a big tymer. 60 boxes a week! I gots to step up my game. I'm only rollin' through 20-30 boxes a week. It's natural to want props, but just be careful how you get 'em. Don't give up your hard earned secrets to your own competition without thinking on it. Last thing we need is more coin roll hunters! Alabama? You know my boy Richboy?

Thanks Patrick for the swell welcome!! Thanks for the great advice. The last thing I want to do is ruin this hobby. I noticed last night that their were 13 members viewing the site but 295 visitors. If I share any good information, it will be to members I can trust and that will make this hobby more enjoyable. I was rolling 20-30 a week before my wife decided to join in on the fun. She is getting really good at it now and finds more 90% half's than me. Keep posting often; I enjoy reading your posts and seeing what you fine in the great state of TN.

I forgot that I still had the 20 empty boxes from friday's search and also 10K in coins ready to turn-in to the bank Monday. Here are a couple of pictures I just took.
