Great finds! Why do love detecting? Years ago my husband was the lone metal detector hobbyist in our family and I loved it when he would let me come along. I vowed after our sons were grown that I would metal detect too. I started around 8 or 9 years ago and have made some great finds but really that’s not only the pleasure I get out of detecting. I love finding objects and researching them and it teaches me a lot about history and how ordinary objects that we use today came to be.

52 years in the hobby/endeavor. I like the past/present connection involved in finding things. First detector was a BFO. I remember LOADS of coins found at the bottom of sledding hills around Milwaukee WI. But that was before the MOUNDS of pop-tops and other trash. There was some but I don't remember it slowing me down or discouraging me. ╦╦C
Ya got me way beat.

Been metal detecting since i tied a magnet to a stick. :P

Been poking the dirt for a little over 40 years now...all in the same town. When I wasn't. Digging something up, I was writing (unpublished) books about the things i last dug and how they connected to the settlers whose property the old lots once belonged to....an archaeological historical tour of my old town founded in 1842.....and I have come to know them all not just by their preserved names, but the artifacts that they left behind.

im a water hunter like wearing that mask just never know what your going to find. sure do like all the goodies you guys found

love those finds, thanks. 4 years in the hobby. I love detecting because I enjoy things that make me feel like a kid. Treasure hunting in the dirt is one of them.
Thank you for your comments

You are right treasure hunting in the dirt make us feel like a kid.

Enjoy this hobbie for many years more.

I love that you have found good friends-a REAL treasure…!
I’ve only detected 15 years, but it was a natural extension from the archaeology I do still- I love dirt…!
It’s a life style/hobby…!

You guys recovered a nice assortment of finds once again-just bonuses really.
As I think the friendship, and getting together is the real treasure in the post.

Pretty well a lone wolf here-I use to cherish the family bond of detecting early on, that water has past 40+yrs ago.
I have been digging dirt now going on 55 yrs, never have gotten tired of seeing what is there under the dirt of time.

I like your digging tools, just shows how hard the ground is to recover the finds.
Thank you Peperj

Agree, fiends are the important in here.

Never stop on seeing what is there under the dirt. Never stop to enjoy this hobbie

After many years hunting, I can imagine the tons of good finding you have 😎

I think of detecting as searching for a needle in a haystack. It's quite rewarding to have found many "needles" over the years. I started detecting in about 1975 with a Compass detector, followed by a Garrett Groundhog. I took a 30 year hiatus,, and got back into this wonderful hobby around 2013 with an AT-Pro, and more recently the XP Deus.
Thank you for your comments

You have almost 50 years enjoying this hobbie, I could imagine the tons of stories you has been collecting

Never stop it.

😎

good exercise, 25 years, love thinking what's in the ground and digging it and find what it is
