sorry again

Now I will have to admit I stirred a hornet's nest with no intent to do so. But Outbackwack you guys make me smile. It was a treasure to me, but understand a treasure that is out of the norm here. A gift from me to you and others, especially those who find deer hunting offensive .......... In your words......"NEXT TOPIC PLEASE"........ just move on and let those of us who enjoy such have our time without any input from those who don't. Nothing can be said that will change any of us in our cultural or ethical beliefs. The only thing that can be accomplished is to offend. Move on to "NEXT TOPIC".

Congratulations I knew she was after that first one. That one will eat well. I have been busy as well filling freezers .

Maybe the general discussion area would have been better but it is sort of a Todays find isn't it? Nice nanner head!
Happy Hunting!

I really didn't mean to make this a polarizing issue on this forum. I am not completely against hunting. I just don't understand the excitement in killing animals. And when i looked at the picture of the dead dear and the smiling girl it was unsettling and made me feel a little sad. Nothing against you tngun, you seem like a nice person and a proud father. Just because I don't like hunting and I am not real comfortable with the idea of everyone carrying a gun, does not make me the enemy.

When I see this, I can only think of how happy you must be and the bond of a Father and Daughter to enjoy such a historical moment and want to share this time with your Tnet friends. When I metal Detect old home sites and start finding various relics, I often think of the Families behind the finds and what memories they must have treasured. So with this thread even if the find is different than normal, the treasure is the memories that a Family have shared.

Congrats and Thanks for sharing your day

claire, never even gave the "enemy" concept a thought. Always wish you well. We are brought up to hunt and fish. It is a wonderful and natural part of our lives. One of the toughest things I have had to face was my fathers admission he could no longer make it. The legs just will not let him any longer. Both knees replaced twice and going in for the second hip the 18th. My daughters first call was to Papa to tell him she got him a doe. As long as Abby and I are able he won't go without. We take deer for three who can no longer hunt as do many others on here I am sure......... another tradition. >>>>Now the gun issue...... The rifle my father used was one I bought and set up for him a few years back. Now it is among my most cherished possessions. I used it to take the best buck any of our family has ever taken last year. Hunting is a tradition that is very hard to explain to someone who doesn't do it or has trouble with the ethical issues of it. The true love of guns is another. We view our guns not as dangerous evil things with the sole purpose to kill, but as a simple well crafted tool much like a well made knife. The choice to kill is made by the man holding it and not the knife or gun. I have unfortunately seen death. On the last one I didn't blame the car but the drunk behind the wheel. Again..... best wishes and happy hunting (metal detecting) .:icon_thumleft:

Omg, you posted that. The worlds going to hell now. I like the idea of teaching ones child to provide for themselves. I like what God put on this Earth for us to eat.

Awesome that your daughter likes to hunt if my Grandfathers daughter (my Mother) didn't learn and like hunting I know 3 kids who would have starved growing up. My Mother introduced me to hunting along with my brother and sister and our hunting has always been out of need not sport.Way to keep the tradition going.

Don't feel bad about posting this in the wrong place...I see people post pics of their newborn child on the wrong forums all the time and they don't get moved...Im a fisherman and hunter and Ive got your back.We have to stick together and stand up for ourselves because what were doing is legal and ethical and Im sick and tired of people telling us were wrong...they don't get it and they never will, no matter how much sense you talk to them...Congrats to you and your daughter on a nice deer.

Wow looks like you really opened up a can of worms here. I guess that's what happens when you start a hunting thread in a treasure hunting forum. How dare you kill innocent animals with guns! (Killing & guns are the most evil things in the world.) Never mind the fact that most anti-hunting and anti-gun people are perfectly okay with killing as many unborn children as possible...

Oooh SO TRUE!!!

Thanks four understanding...nanner head :laughing7:...I like that...we call em slick heads and coke bottles.

I grew up with hunting and fishing. I loved fishing with my dad and my brother and dad went out every year to hunt. Most people don't know what it's like to not have food on the table. Yes, my family enjoyed the sport of it but the real reason was feeding us thru the rest of the year. Would there be any difference if she was holding a 6lb trout? Probably. I think it's because deer are beautiful animals and we don't like to see them die. If you really want to be sad, watch one starve to death because of over population or hit by cars because they are looking food and there are too many other deer around so they have to leave their territory. I never got into the hunting thing myself because I got girly around that age and lost interest. I still like to fish but don't do it because I don't like to eat it so I'll let someone else enjoy it. Let me tell you one thing. If my family was hungry my butt would be out there providing for them. Right now, at the rate that this world is going to hell in a hand basket, learning to survive by hunting isn't a bad skill to have. My dad's deerslayer rifle is in my closet ready to take out in a minute if it comes down to it.

Congrats to your daughter. She will never go hungry. She will never have to depend on anyone else for that.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.
