Hello everyone, today I was on a driveway composed of lava-rocks, and I found this metal ore rock sticking out from the dirt. It's very heavy, much heavier than a stone, the top is polished from being run over by cars. Any idea what kind of metal this might be? No signs of rust on it anywhere, its non magnetic, and holds heat and cold very well when I tested it's conductivity. Specific gravity of 6.3.

Thanks for any help

Sorry, I don't go off-site to view images. Did you paste the URL's in your post or did you try using the "Insert Image" button?

Do a steak test, rubb it against an unglazed piece of porcelain. What colour do you get?

Been out of town for the past few days, sorry. I didn't polish it, but it's probably this way from getting run over by cars. I just tried the streak test, it was either very dark grey or black.

I guess a hardness test will aid further. At first I thought it was hematite, but the streak test just ruled that out. :)

A tad light for platinum but it could have other minerals in it. Streak should be steel gray and shiny for platinum. Hardness should be 4-5 according to my reference.
