It's been a long dry spell but I finally found another ring at the local tot lot this afternoon. It was in the sand around the slide. Also found some clad and a Hot Wheels '69 Chevy pickup truck and part of a key chaoin. A couple of days ago I found this little butterfly shaped lock/watch in the grass bout 4" deep. It is plated and most of the plating has worn off. The little clock face is in good condition but apears to be full of water. The lock on the back is not real. This little ring looks like silver but I think it is silver plated. The only writing on it inside the band is a 6 or a 9 depending on how your are looking at it. There is no .925 stamp that I can find and I think it's probably copper plated as it is not magnetic. Around the outside is the name Will Rogers.

Forgot the pictures first time! Monty

Re: Found ring at the Tot Lot

Sounds like you found some interesting things Monty.
Glad you busted that dry spell.

You're not the first one that says they read my posts in Montie's tone of voice. Heck, I hear it when I write it! In the office where I was the manager, everyone had a Simpson's character's name and I was Mr. Burns. Any time I had to get onto one of the employees, I'd always start out with "Smithers, Loose the Hounds"! Monty

THIS WAS MY 5000th POST!

Nice little batch of finds Monty! Got to love finding rings, any rings! Congrats. I think the 6 is probably the size on this type of ring?

Smiles!

Nice finds,WTG

The lock is fake , but the watch is real. The darn thing is full of water and not a drop will leak out. Guess that's what may have preserved the face in such good condition? I think the little ring is a souvenir from the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore Ok, just a few miles up the road, old HWY 66. It is inlaid with a plastic ring all the way around it and it has Will Rogers inside it writtten in cursive. Definately silver, but plated. Another trinket for one of my granddaughters. Oh, and just so Nana won't feel left out, I found her a nine millimeter Luger bullet in perfect condition suitable for shooting bad guys. Of all the guns I own I don't have a 9 mm. I have reloading dies for it though. M ::) nty

Hey Monty. Good to see you are still getting out. How is your health holding out? I think it was you that it was becoming more challenging to do the detecting....

Congratulations on 5000!

Monty you have got to stop taking those toys from the little kids. They are starting to complain to the park commission. ;D ;D ;D
Congrats Monty keep up the good work.

Hey Monty, nice stuff! A ring is a ring, silver or not! Good to see ya out there hunting! Take it slow! HH!

DOH! Great hunting Monty. Rings are quite elusive to me. I feel I dig my share of pulltabs but seldom find a ring. I think ive dug 6 of them all told,2 silver the rest plated though one is stamped brass. I found 4 of them in one week in January and havent dug one since. Guess I need to work some tot lots and try and get my average back up a little. Congrats on your big 5k,and look forward to many more,HH...Shoot
