Well, I know this isn't that great to win a BANNER, but here is the best I've been able to find in my 11 years in this hobby.

I love it! If it’s not too much trouble can you tell a little about the ones you know about? Mainly, does that day 2.5 dollars? I might be able to find them but every search I’ve done on the ones I found brings up so many and I don’t know which is which.

and there are more denominations. It is the same design but different value

I almost bought one of those $2.50 pieces back when I was a youngster of about 12. I was roaming our local flea market with a handful of money I had saved from allowances and approached the coin guy at his regular booth....interrupted him as he spoke to a comrade and told him I was there to buy that little Indian coin there marked $2.50 on the 2x2 holder....he looked at me sideways as I held out my sweaty palm holding ten dirty quarters.... I never did get my little gold indian. Nice coins you got there

Thank you very much, and a very good anecdote

Dulce! Thank you for posting those photos!

Would you be willing to share where they were found? Not the precise location(s), of course. But the type of property - schoolyard, ranch, old saloon, or?

Thank you!

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo

I found the 1914 coin on an old wagon road that connected the town of Dayton, Nevada to Virginia City, Nevada. I found the $5 coin in a dump in a ghost town in the Dexie Valley area of Nevada.

I know that road! up past Stagecoach, locals call it an old Pony-express route. My family used to own a intact stage stop on that route, complete with a well... (long since gone)

Get a copy of "Coin Red Book" - it's the best way to learn about the history of our coins.
Tons of info. and color photo's. - get the spiral edition - it's easier to use - only around $15.00
Most people (not including people in our hobby & coin collectors) don't know a lot about our past coinage.
Such as the early Colonial issues- 2 Cent - 3 Cent - 20 Cent coins, etc.

That town disappeared a long time ago, because of a large mine that is there. But I found that dump a long time ago.

That's what I'm going to do. I think I'll buy the book today.

I got my info on his 1914 from my Redbook. I have the 2024 book. You can tell rare from common real quick. I think the new 2025 book will be out soon. I’d wait for it. Gold and silver have gone up considerably for collector coins since the last issue.
