Found in same field as the 1803 LC. Dandy button with eagle!

Found this a short while ago in the neighbors hay field.
Last week I found a REALLY NICE 1803 Large Cent. This button comes from the same field, 100 yards away.

Is this a George Washington button??
I have done nothing to it but a soft toothbrush and some water. Not really sure if I should do the Peroxide on this or not... opinions on cleaning and ID of the button are welcome.

Very nice find. You are correct in your guessing that it is a George Washington inaugural button. It got lost way back when, because the shank on the back was broken off. I've got one just about like it.

I just came back to read Banner!

I guess that I diddnt realize what this button is. I have cleaned it now..... I hope I have not ruined it

I am not really sure how to comment right now so I will just sit back and soak it all in for a while.
