I found this at a old farm site. It was about 40 yards form a old carriage building.

It was about nine inches deep.
i was using a Simplex in the field mode it rang up around 90

I think it maybe part of a decorative hardness piece or possibly part of drawer handle . With a ring going in the top top pull the drawer open .

I can't visualize what this piece went to but the creature on it appears to be a griffin. The griffin seems to have been popular in the US in the later 1800's to early 1900's.
