Found another special BUG friend ! This time in my mailbox !!

Spitfire...can;t believe someone wrote the seller. The thing about EBay is that selling anything at auction is a risk....you may not get close to what something is worth, sometimes you get alot more than its value..you never know and EBay explains this clearly and is why some people put a reserve on their items. Unless the seller was a kid, they have no grounds to complain, it's the SELLER's repsonsiblity to research an item and find its value BEFORE listing it for auction. May sound kind of unfeeling, but if something goes under its value, then...too bad so sad, thats the gamble you take on Ebay.
Nice find and hope all goes well with your friend, The big C is no fun to deal with.

Thanks Maine. Our friend is dieing of lung cancer caused by years of smoking.I don't like to talk about it much ,so i don't.The chemo was no good it was too advanced,we expect to return for a funeral within a month or so.....but i gave him the bug as a gift since he loved mine so much .Thought i could do something to brighten his day.Didn't think i would have to defend myself against it or tell everyone my problems which i do not usually do on the web .He can past the treasure on to his kids.

I said i was going to do some MDing but i didn't we stayed at the hosptial for around 5 hours then went to Harrys old forrest hangouts .Then the next day we went back to the hospital and stayed for another 4 hours. We got back to High Point around 6 PM

Hey Joe ,yeah i am proud of Harry too(My husband) its his long time friend thats in that hospital dieing. He's my friend too, but them two knew each other when they were kids runnin around in the hollars and the creeks together where some of the pics i took were. Its sad but a certain fate for everyone.

Email from the seller today Oct. 16 06:

"I am curious that your friend magically turned from a she into a he from your last mail to this one. perhaps you never heard the saying -honesty suits us all better- nevertheless i can not allow one dishonest person to ruin this for me. it wasn't about the money...it was about the dishonesty and pressure to send out the stuff quickly. I guess you did not want to give me a chance to back out. that's o.k. God knows I did the right thing."

As for the she turning into he that is as simple as a mistype which i do quite often. She is right about the pressure to ship fast because of fear of mind changing and Harrys friend wouldn't get it.Is it my responsibility to tell a seller how much a item is worth ? Of course not ! No one tells me what my items are worth when i list them, they go what they go for i just make sure all words are spelled correctly at least but spell check doesn't correct she to he. I need opinions here this seller is problay going to give me a neg for this i am am going to be super pissed. How can i prevent her from leaving me one ?

She wants to talk about hishonesty ? I WAS NEVER dishonest with her in anyway ! Also this will be the last time i share my ebay findings on here !!!

Reddie, it is such a shame people have to turn a nice deed that warms your heart into some thing that breaks your heart. I am sorry this nice thing you did gave you a sour feeling about alot of things.
Please forget about the bad part of this experience and enjoy your friend for his final days, (maybe a miracle will come out of the bug and save him), you are a wonderful person and that is all that matters. Ignore the nasty people in life.

You would be surprised at the amount of nasty stuff that gets spread online, LOL! Or maybe you wouldn't, now. Ignore it!

I have now (ignored them) its none of thier bees wax what i do with my items i won anywho.

you learned a valuable lesson about the net :-\

Your bug is different than the two that sold for $350+

Yours open on the side. They open at the bottom.

Big difference in the antique world. Items that look alike / similar aren't always worth the same amounts.

the seller made the mistake, it's their fault. they should've researched and used spell check before posting the auction. they have no right to be mad at you, they messed up and are just looking for someone to blame besides themselves.

It doesn't matter anyway because it was given away to a friend.

Yes i have Baron ! :(

Red, sorry about your friend, pray that he will come through miraculously..... Sorry about the ordeal you have had with talkers on this site...... But please do not let others ruin your day, and our day because you make us all smile, and we all need that from you.... Stay as you are girl, forget about it.

God bless
Peter

Reddie, Anyone that would pull that Tattle Tale stunt should be publicly Horsewhipped! As far as the Seller was concerned, the old saying,
Let the Buyer Beware also means Let the Seller Beware too! I'm sure that the guy who sold the old artwork w/ a copy of the Declaration of Ind. behind it, wasn't too happy either! That's the way it goes! I'm sure we've all got burned one way or the other sometime! ;D

Nice find, and nice story.
The seller has no case, morally or otherwise.
She should have researched the item, and listed it with a reserve.
As far as avoiding a neg, not much you can do there if she is so inclined.
The only way ebay will remove a ned [unless it is consentual] is if you pull there contact info, call their phone
and discover the phone number is dead - You then report this to ebay, they will verify it, and if true will remove
the neg and NARU the seller - If 60 days passes and no neg, then no worry.
Real dirtwads wait for 59 days, 23 hours and 55 minutes, hoping to avoid retaliation.

I got my first neg after 393 100% + from some idiot that bought an old zippo lighter for $8.99 & $2 shipping.
Even though I had four super sized pics of the damn thing, all sides top and bottom, she claimed the item
was misrepresented - I guess I did not describe every little scratch [just said in the auction "used, with signs of wear', figuring the 4 pics would speak for themselves].
Some people ... but congrats once again, always nice to see a sweet item liberated from the ground, especially by a newbie.

If someone from this forum wrote to the seller, it was a low life underhanded thing to do to both you and the seller. They should be banned for life! After all, what is the lure of ebay if not to find bargains? That's the only reason I ever shop ebay. If you wanted to pay full retail it would be much simpler just to shop at your local antique dealer for whatever. You did good, so don't fret. You have a lot of folks here on Tnet backing you up. Monty

An eBay item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and you were the top payer. I cannot believe the low life that wrote the E-mail to start trouble and I cannot believe the seller either. Did she write nasty e-mails to the 8 other bidders? I hope she didnt give you a Neg. You certainly dont deserve it and did nothing wrong.
