Oh my God is all I got to say! Well I went out on a construction site here in Pasco county after the rain and about an hour after walking and finding a few flakes and a broken point I stumbled accross this SCREAMER! This is a high quality Marion blade that is flawless and translucent because of the material it is made of. Here in Florida the Indians used solidified coral that used to be under water thousands of years ago. When Florida rose out of the water all the coral reefs over time minerlized into solid coral heads in which the Indians broke apart and heat treated them in fire pits which made the material easier to knap and the heat would also turn the coral many beautifull colors and translucent! It isn't very often that one can find a point in this condition but when you do it's a heart stopper! Thanks for looking. Ben...... HH

Thanks for all the replies! To answer a few questions I'll start with the dating of arrowheads/ projectile points. Points are first typed by what they look like for instance the first picture posted the "screamer" is called a Marion it dates to the middle Archaic which is (6000 B.C. to 3000 B.C.) there are many differnet periods starting from the paleo period (10,000-8,500 B.C.) all the way to the Late Woodland Period (A.D. 900 - 1700). Classifying them comes with experience and studying the many books about projectile points. Next, "is it worth anything" , yes they are worth money and some are worth more than others I have seen arrowheads found in Florida go for as much as $15,000 the point pictured here could definitely buy a couple of top of the line metal detectors! Allthough to find one like that doesn't happen very often, but I have found a handfull over the years that would compare, along with hundreds of others. Thanks again you guys. Ben by the way I just got back from the same site and found another decent point and it's my birthday to top it off

WOW!!!! Such a beautiful color....and intersting facts about it. I think I'll look more carefully if/when I come across a construction site here in Manatee county.

That is a sweet find!!!

Wow that looks awsome. I would love to find one that big in such perfect shape. Congrats on a great find.

Wow! That thing is absolutely awesome. I have only found one arrowhead in my entire life and it was back when I was 14. I was running down a dirt path near a creek and tripped over an exposed tree root. When I hit the ground and looked back, the arrowhead was pulled up underneath the root I tripped on, but it was not as beautiful as the one you have there. Congrats!
