Went out this morning and found this brass thing with ""quick" Pat. Apr. 12. 98." on the top. any ideas what it may be,

Great ID on the wash basin clamp (sink clamp) google "kitchen sink clamp" look in images to see modern versions.

I have never seen this patented clamp but very similar to the modern clips after all these years. 8)
