former law abiding gun owner shoots wife over dinner

Congratulations on the marriage, but I'm afraid I have to inform you that it was a non violent (no guns) revolution that caused Ferdinand Marcos to depart the islands. No, never been there, don't have any desire to go there. Have you read anything about how United States style democracy was established there? Have you ever read anything by Marine Corp General Smedley Butler?

If you were to look around, you would find that this country has already been taken over by the wealthy who are in the process of buying the commons and kicking the citizens to the curb by way of economic terrorism. They haven't even had to fire a shot or threaten to do so. Taking their factories and jobs to foreign nations seems to work just as well.

What eggackery does the 2nd amendment say? I'll let you fill that one out, ok?

one million Floridians have concealed carry permits, that in itself is a scary thought.

There were guns involved, Marcos sent troops to attack the rebels who were part of the revolution and who had barricaded the Ministry of Defense, 10's of thousands of Filipinos rallied to help the rebel troops and placed their selves between the rebels and Marcos loyal troops who came to seize the Ministry, rather than attacking the cilivians which were defending the rebels, large groups of soliders defected and joined the rebels, Marcos sent a Helicoper attack unit to attack them but they instead also joined the rebels and people who were revolting against government tyranny.... The military chose to defend the people rather than fire on the people. there were lots of guns present...., they were in the possession of the rebels and the troops....

The fact we have over 1.1 million concealed licensed citizens in Florida doesn't cause me even one second of fear or anxiety, in fact it is a calming feeling......

I am still wating for you to show us the carnage from Florida's concealed license citizens?:dontknow:

The 2nd admentment is not debatable, it is a right we all have, even if there are those who are afraid of it.... Everytime you leave the house and go almost anywhere there are citizens around you carrying with a CWL license and a concealed weapon.... It is even legal to carry it at all the tourist parks in Florida....

“Foolish libels who are trying to read the Second Amendment out of the Constitution by claiming it's not an individual right or that it's too much of a public safety hazard, don't see the danger in the big picture. They're courting disaster by encouraging others to use the same means to eliminate portions of the Constitution they don't like.”

Economic terrorism? Really?
This is called Communist Propaganda! I finally understand who votes for Maxine!

TH, I like how you know your facts :)

But I've seen such a conspicuos absence of facts to depose you?

Are perhaps those shouting the loudest not armed enough in reality and ability to see where we are going, which will affect them as well, keeping silent because of a lack of amunition, or are they finally beginning to see what they have no wish of seeing?

My wife is proud of her Filipino heritage, she is also proud that she is an American citizen now and she is a conservative and votes as such....She is not a fan of the current adminstration.....I have never pushed my politics on her, she chose her own path, she is a hard worker and thinks people should work for what they want and not be supported by the taxes she pays.....

what about the Phillipines???? Have you ever read how we installed democracy there? Have you ever read of Marine Corp General Smedley Butler?

I'm still waiting to see all those concealed carry folks doing drills and marching in parades as a part of a well regulated militia. But that part seems to be left out of the discussion.

You're right TH, one million concealed carriers in the fine state of Florida and that thought scares the bejeesus outa me.

get up to date..............we had nothing to do with Marcos. I was there when he was re-elected the first time........ was like chicago during the 20's

Cris.....you asked if we are at the level of "suffering from tyranny?" This refers to the original meaning of tyranny. Now, you tell me....are we?
Tyranny is usually thought of as cruel and oppressive, and it often is, but the original definition of the term was rule by persons who lack legitimacy, whether they be malign or benevolent. Historically, benign tyrannies have tended to be insecure, and to try to maintain their power by becoming increasingly oppressive. Therefore, rule that initially seems benign is inherently dangerous, and the only security is to maintain legitimacy — an unbroken accountability to the people through the framework of a written constitution that provides for election of key officials and the division of powers among branches and officials in a way that avoids concentration of powers in the hands of a few persons who might then abuse those powers.
Tyranny is an important phenomenon that operates by principles by which it can be recognized in its early emerging stages, and, if the people are vigilant, prepared, and committed to liberty, countered before it becomes entrenched.

Withholding information is the essence of tyranny. Control of the flow of information is the tool of the dictatorship.

That was a very worded definition. Lets keep it simple. Merriam-Webster's definition in regard to governemental tyranny: "a government in which absolute power is vested in a single ruler."
sorry...our governement is not tyrannical. They may do tyrannical acts but it is not yet a tyranny.

Do you wait untill a building is totally engulfed in flames before you yell fire and take action?

Do you wait till we have complete and absolute tyranny before we start yelling?

key words cris......"not yet tyranny". Now, look at the words that were used to describe the original meaning of tyranny.
QUOTE: "Tyranny is an important phenomenon that operates by principles by which it can be recognized in its early emerging stages, and, if the people are vigilant, prepared, and committed to liberty, countered before it becomes entrenched."
We may not be experiencing "full-blown tyranny" in the accepted definition of the word but we ARE experiencing "early, emerging stages". Even if it were not to become full-blown, any hint of tyranny in this country is unacceptable!

That is not really a definition of tyranny as much as it is an instruction on how to prevent it. Anyway, any further response I my behalf would sound like I was quoting stockpicker. So, we'll just agree that we are "not yet suffering tyranny" and "the office of president can always be misused in tyrannical ways."

We are suffering tyranny. We are having obama care crammed down our throats, using IRS to harress political opponents, using government agencies to seize private records, tapping and seizing reporters phones and records, massive spying on American citizens in violation of our 5th amendment rights with out due course of law, execution of American citizens by drone without due process of law..... It goes on and on..

Violation of 2nd, 5th and 10th amendments of our Bill of Rights.....

Not according to this definition: "Merriam-Webster's definition in regard to governemental tyranny: "a government in which absolute power is vested in a single ruler.'"

Obama alone is not responsible for all those things. There are many, many others involved. You can call us a corrupt democracy or a failed Republic....but the tyranny bill does not fit the definition. If you have another definition from a reliable academic source on the definition of tyranny I'm willing to reevaluate my opinion.

Personally done no, responsible for, yes.

King James did not commit all the crimes and grievances for which our fore fathers rebelled and went to war over, but he was responsible for all of them....

I'm having a hard time agreeing with the comparison of Obama to King James...

Is that King James VI & I who died in his bed in 1625 after complaining about tobacco and ordering a new translation of the Bible, or King James VII & II whom we chased off the throne in 1688 and who died in exile because of his tyranny?
