I took a spring break vacation to Florida with my brother Jeff (clump63)
and 4 teenagers last week! We had a great time and managed to get
a few days of metal detecting in while we were there. Jeff and I found
out real quick that the metal detecting competition down there is FIERCE!!
Nothing like we are used to here in Indiana.
Our second day we decided to hit a popular beach area by 7 a.m. and realized that we were late...there were already 4 or 5 old timers out there
scanning the sand. Jeff took to the right side of the beach and I took to
the left side...wondering if there would even be anything left since the
regulars were already well on their way to scooping sand.
Anyway, long story short....I dug up this beauty and almost fainted!
I took it to the local jeweler today....the ring is stamped 18k and the
diamond is 3/4 carot. He recommended to me where to take it to have the
stone graded as he found it to be an outstanding stone!
Approximate value in his opinion....$4,000 to $5,000 !!
Oddly enough....this is the first ring I have ever found..... ;D

I was able to get my ring to the recommended jeweler today.
The appraisal value did not come back as high as I was originally
lead to believe but...I could not be any happier with my find....
and I could not have asked for a better vacation!
I wonder if I will ever find anything else with this much value.... ;D

NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. HOPE WE CAN FIND SOMETHING LIKE MAJOR GOLD COIN AT THE 1819 SITE THAT IS RESERVED FOR ME AND YOU . OLD DADDYO MIGHT HAVE TO SHOW YOU AND CLUMPY UP WITH THE WHITES 6000. SEE YOU THIS SUMMER ON THE HILL. LOVE YOU OLD DADDYO.

Wow! That's great! Now I feel bad about all those times I've gotten up early in the morning and walked miles on the beach......without a detector!

Just saw this post - wtg girl! And even if the appraisal wasn't what you thought it would be, it's still mighty fine!

Oh, it was fun to see the "other specimens" too ;) (the guys don't usually post those for some reason :D

Congrats again on the wonderful ring and for making the banner! It's a memorable find for sure. I am really happy for you!! Hope you can find some more goodies like that. Thanks for sharing this inspirational treasure!

I am so excited about making the banner and to think....the end of
May I will have only had my metal detector for 1 year !
I think that I have had a pretty first year at this wonderful hobby!

he would charge the little neighborhood boys $$ to peek into the bathroom
